Jay-Z the Larry Holmes of Rap.. Had he came along earlier in the hip-hop game he'd be an also-ran

LMAO I could roll with that.

Still nice, but people [not people here necessarily] consider him the GOAT? Mention him in the same breath as the Kings? Hmmmm. I don't think so man. And like I said, I'm a Jay fan.

Thread ran off course though, considering it's supposed to be about his newest single.

American gangster wuz a very decent album. And hov is simply a lirical marval. I LOVE tupac but did not dig all of his songs. They make so much music that they will get bored and put out weak material. Look at wayne, i think he only tries sumtimes. The mixtape weezy can go against anybody u mention.

I absolutely hate any rap since the days of Doggystyle and The Chronic.

But the death of autotune? I might have to spend my first $0.99 on rap in 15 years.

If jay is not the goat then who is???

He's been in the game since the late 80's/early 90's and is still relevent(aint like rap was out since the 60's) not even LL Cool J can say that....

Pac and biggie was the ish but if MJ only played 5 season would he be the GOAT in some peoples eyes???

I listen to Rakim everyday but he still rap now and he's not relevant...

Nas cant sell drugs to a addict right now...

I know there's some underground rappers that may be better than Jay some people may say Joe Buttons is but people dont say Earl Manguilt(spell check) is better than MJ(heck, they wouldnt say he's better than Kobe or LeBron)

Ya know what it is stupid to even get into a GOAT debate. My fault for my last post. Nobody is ever going to "win" that debate whether it's music, sports etc. I really don't care what people think about Jay so if people think he's the greatest or one of them, I'm good with that

Jigga is nice man. I think people hate on him cause he is still relevant. Who else that came out when he did is still here ?? For that amazing feat alone he has to be considered as one of the greatest. I mean look at the total volume of work he has done. So you don't like an album or two or a track or two... Does that make him not one of the greatest ?

Were talking about a person who doesn't write anything down for like ...ever...LOL and has made some of the most memorable commercial hip hop hits and now he's weak.....Negro PLEASE....

As far as I'm concerned he lit that track up. but opinions are like arm pits most people have two.

FYI i'm not in the everything he spits is fire camp. Some of those remixes were just terrible but just cause Jordan didn't lead the wizards to the playoffs don't mean he didn't win 6 rings and that he is not the greatest ever. Rap fans are the most critical sob's on the planet and most of the MOST critical don't even buy cd's ... Jigga is a genius but not every song is going to be genius quality material.
I think Jay-Z is a good rapper, I just don't think this track is one of his better ones. The point he's making is great, but the flow and wordplay are very basic, especially for him.

Nas is top 5 whether you wanna admit it or not. Him and his music are still relevant today.

"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."
