According to a guy who worked on the show (I don't know in what capacity), the ending had been written since the very beginning and started from when Jack touches the casket to when he closes his eye as the plane flies overhead.

The reason nobody was in there from past Season 1 is because they REALLY didn't want to change the ending they already had. They, however, included Desmond and Penny because they knew from the beginning they were going to be important people in the show, so they were already written in from the get go.

That is, however, why Ben, Miles, Lapidus and the rest weren't in there.

The h-bomb worked in the sense that it killed Juliet and sent them back to 2007, but it did not work in the sense that they never crashed. It erased nothing.

Desmond had memories because he was special. He was the only person who could be completely aware of both things happening, just like his mind could travel back in time.

If it wasn't an afterlife, how do you explain Christian being alive and Jack coming to the realization that he's dead?

Because the bomb changed everything, made it as if the island never existed. I just don't get how everyone is so happy in a purgatory. I thought that is where people go to prove themselves for heaven and hell.

Didn't it? To me it did. They had their lives in an alternate dimension without an island. All it took was for the consciousness to switch over in death.

The alternate dimension was the afterlife. I don't think that equates to the bomb going off. Juliet said "we can go dutch" because she was dying and was starting to "switch over" to death.

No, the Island was underwater because it was no longer needed in the universe that the Losties created.

The Island existed. Everything happened. The AR was the afterlife that was created so they could all meet up and pass on together because, in LOST, that is how the afterlife worked.

They were all empty, they all had to find something. Jacob was wrong in that they needed the Island. They needed the people on the Island that they met.

Just literally finished watching the final episode which I PVR'd last night with my Dad... wow. I seriously got emotional. I don't want Lost to end I've watched every single episode with my Dad since Lost began and I believe I was 11 then, now 17 almost 18, it's amazing how time flies by.

So I guess everyone was dead the whole time and the Hurley is now Jacob? So what happened to the plane Lapetus (hope that's how you spell his name) was flying? Did they all live? I'm so confused!

I really like how they made Jack walk to where he was found and made him die there by Vincent, nice touch.

That plane did land. Which is why Kate 'missed' Jack for essentially a lifetime
until there were reintroduced in another life, outside the concert area.

They all went to live their lives for however long they did. Kate, Sawyer, Lapidus and Alpert all go and live for however long. Desmond got sent home to be with Penny and Charlie. Ben and Hurley ran the Island for who knows how long. Possibly centuries.

I was pretty nervous that I was going to hate the way LOST ended, but I thought the finale was ****ing incredible. Are there quite a few things that were never answered? Yeah, but I don't even care anymore. The series was consistently good and finished so well that any questions I still had have stopped bothering me. I'm not looking back at the series with any disappointment, which I really didn't expect.

Now what the hell am I going to watch?

Was Alpert not in the alternate reality? If he wasn't, could it be because he still can't die? Even though he grew gray hair. What caused that again? I'm have so much trouble remembering these things this season.

I thought the finale was all I could have hoped for.

One thing however I was a little miffed about was how quickly into the episode The MIB was killed off. There was at least another hour or so of the episode to go. It just felt to me that he went way to early in the show.

I think I am going to buy the complete series on blu-ray and rewatch it. I think it comes out in august.

I disagree, you can be 100% right, and so can I.

The way I'm choosing to interpret the show is the bomb worked, created an alternate universe where they didn't have the flaws they did in the Island timeline. (Hence Jack resisting the island memories) Eventually they reenacted iconic moments from the island timeline to merge their personalities and the things they loved. There was no afterlife and no purgatory. I mean if it was purgatory, then how where they trying to prove they belong in heaven?

Christian explained clearly where they were. Not sure how you came away with this.
