I don't think so YP. In addition, Jack didn't have any significant acting role in this episode, but he did show up. He was the doctor walking towards Sayid when he went to the hospital after the attack on Omer.

I hope Jacob was right when he said someone else was coming to the island, and it wasn't just part of the whole ruse to get Hurley to bring Jack to the Lighthouse. If someone is indeed coming, I really hope it's Desmond. They can't just leave him out of this after how involved he's been. If they do leave him out, my only reasoning would be that his story was considedered "complete" by reuniting with Penny.

I am still bummed by Sayid turning mad evil. Through the entire series he has been working very hard to be a changed man from what he was in Iraq. Maybe Shannon will come back and convert him into a good guy?

Isn't Ben scheduled to die next week? The previews mentioned that he meets his demise, or someting like that. Seemed pretty clear that he was going bye-bye.

Things I still really need explained before the end of the series:
- The Whispers. I don't buy the explaination that these were always the Others.
- Why some seem to have special powers. Walt had them even before the island, so it can't just be the island giving them to certain people.
- Who Adam & Eve are.
- What/where the second island is.

I don't have answer to your question but I think I have a theory.
The show seems pretty based on destiny, it was always John and Jack fighting, so I think Jack is the eventual "replacement"

In the flash sideways Sayid said that he could never change, and he is still evil on the island.

Kate is always on the run and is never truly affiliated with one side of good or evil, even though she is good

Jin was meant to be captured as he was in both dimensions, we will see what happens to him.

I'll think of more later but to sum up it seems like the characters have parallel lives that follow a same basic blueprint.

I don't understand why who Adam and Eve are is such a big deal. I think it was just going to show that people have been on the Island for a really long time. If they don't tell us who they are then it obviously wasn't important. They didn't really make THAT big of a deal about them to begin with. It was like like an, "Oh look - two skeletons. They are holding stuff."

The second Island is like...two miles away from the first Island? They've explained that before when Jack, Saywer and Kate were prisoners of the Others.

He didn't make an appearance in the Sawyer-centric episode earlier in the season, right?



edit: Nevermind...ends up he appeared in archive footage in "The Substitute", which was a Locke-centric episode, but heavily focused on Sawyer as well.

Lostpedia says he's been in 102 episodes. I'm not sure which ones he hasn't appeared in.

You might be right. I know he was mentioned because that was when Helen found Jack's card in Locke's pocket and urged him to contact him as it could be his destiny. But other than that I don't remember Jack in The Substitute (I think that was the name of the episode).

Well, Sayid did die on the island, but was fine in the LA X universe.

Good points dossier, about the parallel paths they all seem to be taking between the two timelines. I was focused on their characters "core" being, but I missed the obvious parallels with Jin being captured, Kate on the run, Jin killing people, etc..

I re-watched the 6th episode last night. Jack finds a bag with a white and black rock on one of the bodies. He also states they must have been there 40-50 years based on the decay of the clothing. That would place them there prior to the Dharma people, right? So I think that eliminates the idea of them being anyone that time travelled, since they only went back to 1977. In the end I think they will end up being unknowns. Just 2 people who were there at some time, like Roussau's group.

The issue with the second island is that when the island dissappeared at the end of season 4(was it 4?), there was no other island around. If there was, they would have landed on it instead of in the middle of the ocean. Who knows, maybe it's the same island, just wrapped around so that it looks like a second one? Or maybe it was the same island, and multiple copies of it happened to be in the same time.

We really need a book to come out that will explain everything to us

Completely agree, but since Smokey is stuck in his current form, I'm not sure how he's going to bring her back.
