Maybe because Locke is a such a tragic character.
I won't, because Locke is dead.

Well no it wasn't mind blowing, but it was very well acted and I really enjoyed the storyline.

I think you mean Mentelos Bio-Science. He wasn't with Dharma. It was all a ploy to get Juliette to the Island per Ben via Jacob. Basically it was a hoax to get Juliette to the Island.

Also to the guy who stated it wasn't THAT great of an episode. That was actually my first reaction, but when I started to recap it with my wife I realized we got a heck of a lot of info for 1 episode.

Not only did we get Alperts back story, we got what the island is, why Jacob brings people to the island, how the black rock got there, how the statue got destroyed, who is good and who is bad(its been assumed to this point), I mean, thats a lot of stuff man. It was just told in a subtle way and wasn't really in your face like look this is whats up....

I still think "The Constant" is the best Lost episode ever. But I would rate this #2. Great stuff.

With a few exceptions (looking at you Kate) the acting on this show is just so top notch. Nestor Carbonell was fantastic tonight. I loved what they did with his backstory and what makes Lost Lost to me, even more so than the mysteries and the answers, are the characters. I've felt a bit distant towards Richard these past five seasons because we didn't know who he was, but after watching that backstory tonight and the culminating scene with Hurley....I suddenly feel such an emotional connection with him.

The Locke we see now is not the "tragic" character we knew before. They aren't the same person. Not at all. They are the same people like Hurley and Jack are the same people.

Awesome episode. Easily one of the best episodes in this show's history. The acting from Richard, Jacob and the Man in Black was all superb and the story was flat-out amazing. I can't wait to rewatch it tomorrow and see what I missed.

                Great episode.
I understand that completely. Its still hard to mentally make the disconnect. And in a way it makes the Locke character even more tragic.

I understand what you're saying. It's definitely sad/"tragic" to think that Locke (or at least his body) - the man who did everything he could for the Island and to help the people on it, including giving his own life - now represents true evil.

This past episode almost makes me wish that Lost spent more time with these characters.

Actually, now seeing this episode, I can see how the Lost franchise will live on for a very long time. I know Cuse and Lindelof have stated they won't be involved, but ABC is going to milk it. The number of stories that could be conjured just with Jacob, Richard and MiB will be enormous.

Those are stories I'd love to read in a book or graphic novel.

He even helped us understand why the statue is broken. Didn't see that one coming. Though, I see that the writers wrote in a storm when we never saw one in the S5 finale. The only thing I can assume is that things look better on the Island than in the real world.
That ship in S5, how do we know it was alperts ship?? people have been coming to that island for years, that was 1 ship of many.

You're right, it could be any ship. That being said, since there was a ship on the Island, Alpert came on a ship, MiB hinted at Jacob bringing it to the Island in S5 and then Jacob said he brought it in this past episode, is it not safe to assume that it's supposed to be the same ship?

Otherwise, it's just a random ship and I doubt that the purpose of that scene was to talk about a random ship that has no importance.

It doesn't matter anyway. I don't care if it's a continuity error with the rain or if it's just a random ship. We got the story we've been waiting for and they won't go into whether that was the same ship or not. Maybe in a podcast, but never in the episode.
