    This isn't a good start.

Injured Transformers Extra Undergoes Brain Surgery

Bay is known to maintain very safe and controlled environments in stunt shootings like these (one of his better directorial qualities actually), so it's actually a surprise someone was severely injured. Glad to hear she's stable now.

Good to hear she's stable. Very scary.

Also, here's a link to some footage of filming on the set:

Did anyone else notice in that footage they said Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was playing Mikaela Banes? Is that right? I thought she was going to be a new character, not replace Megan Fox.

By the way, I love watching that B-roll kind of stuff. Awesome practical effects there.

                Re: Transformers 3

Since they did some filming in chicago over July, I saw a lot of action scenes they shot from the window in my office building. I cant even front like I wasn't giddy like a kid whenever I saw something. All that stuff on that link Beantown posted...lots of good action sequences. Like most, I didn't get into Transformers 2 that much like the first. Despite the obscene use of CGI or whatever this movie requires to be made, I think its shaping up nicely. I'm just mad that Meagan Fox wasn't there.

Considering how much I absolutely loved the first two films, this will be day one a must-see for me.

Yup. I'll see this opening day in IMAX, without a doubt.

Can't wait. I think the criticism of Transformers 2 is overblown. I'm a sucker for just good fun, though.

                      I'll be there at midnight.

What is the difference between the first and second? Why is there love for one and hate for the other?

IMO, 2 was everything 1 was and more; more laughs, bigger and better action scenes, etc.

People are always going to hate, but in this case it literally makes me laugh, as somehow they claim these movies have ruined the legendary story based off of a cartoon based off of a toy, lol.

I think 1 was constructed, overall, better than the second one (apart from the Optimus Prime forest fight scene). Things just seemed forced into the second one for really no reason.

Agreed, but there is just so much more to it and I'm not sure if I can put it into words. TF2 was simply tiring. I went to the midnight showing, having seen nothing but impressive looking trailers and TV spots and eagerly awaiting for the movie to start. Eventually, myself and the people next to me began to get restless as the movie continued.

Awkward moment after awkward moment in this movie really inhibited the great scenes to outweigh all that was wrong with it. Literally every new character was dreadful (both humans and robots, except Sideswipe) and even returning characters became unbearable (Starscream, John Turturro's character, the parents). And I understand these movies are supposed to be "mindless" in the sense that it doesn't require thought for the audience to enjoy the movie, but that doesn't mean the writers have to be mindless. Prime example (no pun intended):

                              Spoiler

And I'm not even going to get into the whole "destiny" aspect of the movie. But yet of course these movies are for the action scenes, yes? So what happens when the action scenes in TF2 are even worse than TF1? Well now you just have a plain ol' inferior movie, no matter how you look at it.

I'm actually someone who was a fan of the human characters in TF1 and thought the balance was not only justified, but it was necessary. And right off the bat there was a certain military chemistry that we grew fond of that somehow seemed tired by the time TF2 rolled around. It's probably because of the internal conflicts with upper authority that made things all the less plausible.

And finally, TF1 had a very good mix of a movie that was both appropriate for the younger crowd and interesting for adults all the meanwhile. Were there unnecessary Bay-isms? Yes, and I thought the only good thing about that was he would learn from this lesson when TF2 rolled around. He apparently only escalated it.

So far I'm getting a better vibe from TF3. The ditched the ghetto robots, he met very early on with Ehren Kruger for script purposes, and even the shooting location that I saw in that footage is already more reminiscent of TF1 than TF2. Let it be known that even the dreadful TF2 does not make me any less excited for TF3 than I would have been if it was on par with TF1. I still will probably be amped for a midnight release and I may even like it more than the other two. I will definitely reserve judgment on this one.
