Does anyone else laugh at the idea of Jason Statham in a Transformers movie as the lead actor?

I do.

I feel like he's going to be standing up there right next to Optimus Prime, kicking major Decepticon ***.

Yeah that is a strange casting choice.

Saw T3 in 3D yesterday and really enjoyed it. I must be getting old or something because I kinda wished I didn't see this in 3D and sat way back in the theatre. There is just SO much going on visually that my old brain struggles to keep up at times and it feels like I missed a heap of stuff.

Like any Bay film it had a few cringe worthy moments (those little robots are more annoying than funny and John Malkovich's role was pretty pointless really) and amazing special effects combined with a rocking soundtrack, gratuitous shots of hot women (not that I'm complaining ) and basically he gives the average movie going patron what they want to see.

I look forward to getting this on blu ray so I can take my time and try to digest everything that is going on on the screen but overall I enjoyed for what it was and it was worth the price of admission imo. For me it goes:

Transformers 1: 8.5 (really enjoyed this movie, took me back to my childhood)

Transformers 2: 6 (lame plot or lack there of really killed it)

Transformers 3: 8 (not as good as the first but still great unadulterated escapism and worth seeing on a big screen)

I'll probably be back for T4.

Saw T3 in 3D and really enjoyed it. Took a couple minutes to get used to the 3D. Action and eye candy from start to finish. Not as good as the first, but not far behind it.

My only nitpick was

the way Megatron went out. Taken out in 30 seconds. Really?

It was funny that they erased Megan Fox's character in one line. IMO, solid choice on her replacement.

Personally I would say wait 2 or 3 years and reboot the franchise with new actors and directors. Just go in a different direction with it.

I'd rather have The Rock instead of Statham, but that's just me.

I'm a huge fan of Statham, but not sure how he would fit in to this kind of film based on his previous work.

If they go the Statham route then they need a new girl too. They've already had Sam (Lebouf) find "the one" twice now. Leave that storyline alone and go a new direction with new characters.

Day one purchase for me when it comes out. Just behind the first one, for me.

The new girl was about 300 times better than Megan Fox, in looks and actual ability. How's that, Megan, you just got completely out-acted by a ****ing Victoria Secret model.

Saw it last night in 3D. Very entertaining and the fight scenes were pretty good. Way too long though! But the ending was so abrupt.

Where is Thundercracker and Skywarp?

I though the Dutch character was pretty funny. I remember him from Dodgeball as Pirate Steve.

Would have been nice to see more character development, especially with the Autobots. It just seemed like during the fight scenes it was Optimus and Bumblebee fighting everyone by themselves. Where were the rest of them?
