    Re: Paranormal Activity

Finally checked this out a few nights ago, really liked it.

Def one of those movies you have to see in a theater though...kinda like The Strangers.

The Ouija board scene freaked me out....also dug the ending, was kinda just like whoa lol.

Interesting to see where they go with the sequel.

What are they going to do for a sequel? I know Katie was "never found" or whatever at the end of the first one, but continuing her story doesn't seem right.

      I'm not sure about this.

I saw this last week, it was ok. Wasn't that scary, more "creepy." Gave my goosebumps but wasn't that scary (to me). Not too bad though, was certainly a movie that kept my interest.

              Re: Paranormal Activity

My guess will be that Katie turns up dead somewhere and then nearby another couple gets to experience the fun with the demon. Maybe they'll have better door locks heh.

I don't agree that this was definitely one to see in the theaters. In fact I believe it works better when watched on a proper home theater (big screen, surround sound) completely alone...

That is how I watched it. If I had watched it with a bunch of people around me...well the creepiness of it is not near as much. In general I think horror movies work better at home if you watch alone.

If the horror movie is good enough (or any movie for that matter), it should draw you in enough that you don't even think about the other people around you or where you are. The Descent made me feel claustrophobic when I saw it at the theater.

That plot doesn't actually sound half bad, if it's different enough not to be a rehash.

I agree completely that a movie like this works better alone and at home. I made the mistake of watching it at like 2 in the morning by myself, so after it was over I went to bed and couldn't sleep. I just sort of stared at my door half-expecting something to happen.

Had I watched it with a group, I might have joked around and not paid complete attention to the movie.

                      Re: Paranormal Activity

Yeah, exactly man. If I saw this at the theater it just is not as scary since you're in a group of people. If you heard a noise in the theater you wouldn't think anything of it. But if you're watching the movie at home and your icebox kicks in then it could scare the crap out of you, LOL. Not like anything like that happened when I was watching the movie though, heh heh.

I agree about the sequel...it'd be nice if they did it very similar to the original. I hope it's the same director and it's still low budget. I don't want to see a bunch of CGI or stupid camera tricks with monsters.

This could actually be a really new (and well advised IMO) direction for horror movies overall. There is a lot that could be done with this type of movie.

Sweet, I don't think I've seen a movie like that.

It's not the same director, it's the guy from Saw VI doing it.

The same writers are penning it though.

I'm telling everyone now, think Blair Witch 2. This feels like a cash grab.

This scares me. I love Saw but what made Paranormal Activity special is it didnt rely on all these special effects, nudity, cheep scares and a gorefest like every other horror movie does.

I don't want the Sequel to be about a bunch of people getting killed by a demon lol.

                              Yep.

This screams BW2, it was pretty much the same scenario. Camcorder movie out of no where makes a hundred million on sparse budget. Movie huge and copied everywhere. Early the next year, a sequel is announced with a new director but the same writers. And Blair Witch 2 was born, which was nothing like BW1. Killed the franchise and the push of the first movie with one sequel. The prequel that was long talked about, never even funded.

I remember being so excited to see BW2 and I watched it and it shouldn't of even had the name Blair Witch on it.It sucked big time. I hope Paranormal Activity at least's stays with what worked on the 1st one and doesn't completely sell out and try to be some hollywood blockbuster horror film.
