When it comes to PLASMA, I have seen all 4 of the BEST PLASMA on the market. All were professionally calibrated, all running the same content, (Dark Knight BD) All in a dark viewing room.

    Pioneer 500M
    Samsung B860
    Pnansonic V10
    LG PG60

This is the order I ranked them. I would think this order would still hold true for lower end models such as the 720p versions of the Samsung, Panasonic & LG

            Amazon

Call me John Kerry b/c I'm flip flopping again. The Samsung I had almost settled on is the 2008 model and have read reports that most of those years models make a buzzing noise.

I found the 2009 LG model that would be $20 more in price but I'd be picking up: 1 more HDMI slot, PC input, freeze mode, and slightly higher resolution (1365 x 768).

I would honestly go for the $298 HP (Walmart) over any of the $200 laptops. My dad got one of the $200 Best Buy laptops a few years ago and the thing has been nothing but a pain. S-L-O-W

Unless you plan on buying another one in a few years (which would defeat the purpose) I'd spend a little more.

                          Awesome.

I'd love to hear your impressions once you've spent some time with it.

UPDATE: Actually re-ordered the LG plasma. Was looking online and found that if you search using bing.com you get an additional 13% off on top of the 10% off for using your Sears credit card.

So instead slightly $700 after taxes it will be $606 out the door when it's all said and done. I now have 2 plasmas to pick up. LOL I'm going to have to return the first one.

Note: Takes about 4-8 weeks before the bing.com cash gets put in your paypal account. (I'd assume it's so you don't get their money and then return the item)

So not too shabby. Sears also has the coupon SEARS5OFF50 for an additional $5 off a purchase of $50 or more.

I'm not just saying this b/c I just bought it but thought that the LG looked just as good if not better than either the Sammys or Pannys sitting beside it. You had to be about 3 ft. away to start to see pixels but my viewing distance will be about 7-8ft. so no real loss in not having 1080p.

I almost got the Sammy plasma but have read online that the 2008 line had a buzzing problem with the major of them. Would have been happy with a Panny but the LG was $70 cheaper, a 2009 version, had an extra HDMI port, and a swivel stand.

So this is what I did this morning:
                                1) logged into my live.com email account
                                2) went to bing.com search engine & started shopping
                                3) did a search for the "LG 50PQ30"
                                4) clicked on the link with the highest cash back being Sears.com (13%)
                                5) used by Sears card at checkout (10% off electronics over $699 using a Sears card)
                                6) entered the coupon SEARS5OFF50 for extra $5 (works on any purchase over $50--may have to call the customer service to get them to add this after the fact)
                                7) checked out
