I'm only getting a 42" so I'm torn whether to go with 720p or pay the extra for the 1080p

If it's a 42", I honestly don't think you would be losing anything if you go with 720p.

True, especially with a plasma. I believe you've just saved me a couple hundred dollars, sir, thank you for the advice.

            +1

you'd need to be sitting pretty close to the tv, for 1080P to be absolutely necessary at 42 inches. that's $200 to be used elsewhere.

No, I use the same name over there as here. I am using his settings though lol.

To the guys discussing 720/1080p for a 42", I would say you won't really notice the difference unless you are going to hook it to a pc. Or if you are looking at the Panasonic X1 vs. the S1. The S1 has a markedly better picture than the X1.

True, text would be easier to read with the higher resolution.

What is everyone doing for surround sound? A great picture begs to be coupled with great sound.

I am thinking of just getting a sound bar. I don't have that big of a room and I don't want to get a true one until I have a bigger room.

                            Re: Plasma Owners?

my break in is going really well at this point. I will say when I first got my set I saw somr IR, which I read is normal, now when I have a ticker on screen or any static image it almost not there or goes away in 5 seconds or less. I'm loving mt set right now, the plasma picture is really unmatched.

Also the guys talking about surround sound, I'm looking too, I bought a sound bar from best buy but returned it, I heard it in the store and it was great, but I didn't look at the back and that's my fault, the sound bar only has freaking RCA jacks and no optical or HDMI. I'm looking for something my self.

They have a real nice SONY sound bar for about $300, with I believe multiple HMDI connections.
