As much as people **** on that movie, James Franco was great and the fight scenes with him were fantastic.
I'm really not sure what happened with Raimi thinking it was okay to make Peter do what he did in the film. It was just weird.

I still like to rank it above SM1, though. It's not as cheesy, but it's a lot more corny and embarrassing... however, effects still have something to say in a movie, and being five years more recent, it got to work with a lot better technology. The CGI in SM1 was a big, big detraction.

Either way, SM2 is by far the most watchable of the films, and it's a great film in general.

I agree... I heard about that rumor a while ago but it's no excuse for the rest of the horrible movie.

Dancing, emo, MJ gets kidnapped for the billionth time, Spidey just allows Sandman to fly away in the wind and leave you WTF... isn't he a bad guy? lol So much wrong with that movie... Franco does a good job but then it's ruined by his butler. I'm a afraid sir, you father was killed by his own glider. Three freaking movies later!

I'm done... bringing Spider-man 3 up here was a bad idea.

My gods, DAT JAW and DAT TONGUE would look nuts on the big screen. I'm having a hard time picturing it. I think it would scare me.

Just now realized Dr. Connors was Nigel in the Replacements, instantly makes this movie better in my mind then.

Yeah haha, it was one of the first thing I whispered to my little sister, as well as the Stan Lee cameo. For both, she said: "Who?" I just had to sit back in my chair and say: "Nevermind."

Everyone who wants to know more about the story, production, and the rest of the franchise should listen to the Empire Online podcast interview with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. I'm listening to it now and they just said that the Oscorp building was supposed to be in Avengers and Stark Tower was supposed to be in Spider-Man but the effects weren't done so they couldn't get it in. They said that they'll get both in each movie universe in the future so that makes me even more optimistic that they can get Spider-Man into the Marvel production universe.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Believe me Pared I am not giving sm3 a pass in the least. I despised it. When I took my kids to see it and Tobey started dancing we all looked at each other in unison with a WTF look. They were also big fans of Venom and didn't like how he was portrayed in the least. Franco (and of course JK Simmons aka JJJ) were good in it. As good as Franco vs Tobey was they should have just made Harry the Hobgoblin and had him be the main villan. They also could have switched things up and made Sandman the meaner, grittier brother of the hood who spidey (kind of) killed in the 1st one. With the revelation that Sandman really killed Ben(in my film with no remorse) and with Sandman somehow finding out Spidey somehat had a hand in his little bro's death it could have made for some really intense scenes (elevating them even more if you introduce the darker side of the black suit). You then have Spidey shake the suit at the end of 3 setting up the suit finding a host in sm4 giving Venom full film treatment. I'm curious if Venom wasn't in it would they even have the black suit-No black suit no scene with Tobey acting like a tool because of the suit. Sorry to get off topic guys. Back to current ASM.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

That's actually a fair question. In reality, Venom was but a speed bump in the overall story line, but the symbiote seemed to be a major part of the plot, almost so much that I don't think it could be considered "tacked on" with the rest of the film. Raimi might have always wanted the black suit, but SM3 was not destined to include Venom in his eyes.

Just think if this didn't include the black suit at all, though. I don't think Peter would be wearing mascara and jet black hair, perv'ing girls on the streets and dancing with chairs in the jazz clubs.
