So if you'd like to discuss things point by point, I guess your argument may hold water. Sadly though, when discussing a device like this when it's an in-between, it doesn't really work.

I know 2 individuals who just sent me emails asking about buying a 64GB version. Obviously, there is a market for it.

There is always a market for Apple products. I know people who bought the Macbook Air when it came out...doesnt mean it was a success or even a good product.

Esepcially if you have some guilty pleasures on your iPad.

On the bus, your buddies all come up, you have your music playing, album art displayed and in shuffle up comes the Jonas Brothers. On that screen, they are almost life like.

plus you don't need to lug around a keyboard, you can use the virtual keyboard. i'd rather have a 10" screen than a tiny screen and a tiny keyboard so i think they did that aspect just fine. $1000 is too steep for me right now though, i'll wait for it to price drop i guess..

To each his own, i'll buy one when the price comes down simply because I do like what it does and how it will replace laptops. most of what I do on the net is surf, check email and read books so this is a great device. i do agree about the memory being too low @ 16gigs-64gigs though..

I can do all that on my laptop and have TONS more memory, a physical keyboard, better programs, etc.

How does it replace laptops?

Can you burn music to it? Stream off it to a device? Install software to it? It's just a giant iPod Touch with some features thrown on it. You still need a PC.

Touchscreen MacBook. That's what this should have been. Take the ModBook idea, and use Apple's genius engineers to lower the size and weight. I would have bought one for sure.

Agreed. Make a MacBook with a physical keyboard and a touchscreen. It would be VERY intuitive and have better computing power, programs, etc.

I bought an iPhone so I didn't have to carry around a cell phone and ipod. Definitely won't be carrying this around. Would be nice to play around with as I love gadgets, but I don't see me using this over my MBP.

Heh, no kidding. This thread would have read the same way if Jobs had come out and walked on water today.

Give me a break, dude. I love Apple, but this device just doesn't scream "BUY ME!" since I can already do most of this stuff with a device I can fit in my pocket.

The screen touch, gestures and interface is what makes it vastly superior to netbooks. Same way as in how the ipod touch is superior to all the other mp3 players out there that basically do the same thing, play music.

Out of curiosity, how are Netbooks selling? Are they flying off the shelfs?

You can hook a laptop up to a projector too.

Just use a laptop then. Physical keyboard, you can read books, more/better memory.

That keyboard dock is pretty sick.

You're just turning it into a bad laptop at that point... lol

Serious Apple heads will be buying them up for sure. I think if apple Crapped in a box, some would buy it ! My 13" MBP is pretty small so I would carry it around if I needed too. I don't see how I could use this or why I would use it. I'm sure there are plenty who will find good uses for it , but it's not for me.

Yeah, I think this happens to anyone that has brand loyalty.

I'm dying to see someone on a bus with headphones in this thing listening to music...or better yet, making a phone call on it. LMAO

You still arent carrying less though. Its not a phone, so I still have to keep my iphone. Its not a portable mp3 player (is anyone going to use this as an ipod because you cant fit it in your pocket)...so I cant get rid of my ipod touch. The memory makes it so I cant get rid of my laptop.

The only device I could replace is a Kindle and I can already access my Kindle books on my Ipod Touch and Iphone.

I agree. Aside from replacing a Kindle or whatever, it really has little use.

It wasn't an insult, stop taking everything so personally. It was a legit question. If your job is to sell the product, obviously you are going to feel differently about it as you have to move it since you represent the company.

I think we can both agree that you are not the norm. You have both and iPhone and iPod touch. That's not exactly something many people do. And you're comparing your "wants" vs. "needs." You WANT to carry your entire library of music; you don't need to.

There are those that need the display capabilities of a laptop that don't want to carry one.

I could sit here and break down why you would carry this over a laptop easily. I'm sure I don't even have to. People are just being difficult in that this isn't a laptop replacement 100%, but it isn't meant to be. Apple would kill a large portion of their business if it were.

You are missing the point. Its not a viable music player. Its 10 inches. It doesnt fit in a pocket. Even if you only carry a quarter of the music you own, the iPad isnt going to be your music player. My point is you are still carrying an ipod, phone (iphone or not) and laptop.

Please break it down because I dont see a reason why other than its lighter (which isnt a huge issue with netbooks and lighter laptops). I also dont see how it would kill their business if they made it more like a netbook instead of a super ipod touch. The memory is what kills it imo.

Does this device do just about everything those can, one way or another?

If you're someone who sits in front of a computer and goes home every day, you probably don't need this. If you're mobile, this will be very useful, whether some may want to believe it will or not.

A few years ago the argument was, "Why would I use a laptop when they aren't as powerful as my desktop?" Now people by laptops in place of home desktop.

In a few years, this will pick up steam and adoption will be bigger.

I don't think that this is a replacement right now for the laptop, but it is what we could be heading towards. I know a lot of people are saying the optical drive is on the PC and what not, there isn't one on this. Apple continues to trudge forward with their digital distribution model......like Sony did with the Go. As much as many of us are turned off by price and memory, who knows, this thing can take off with time and replace laptops.

One thing I don't get is that how can there not be a camera on this? They did the same thing with the 3rdG Touch, which should have had one.
