I sort of like how that slab turns into a "lap top". Would be kinda cool to have that for at-home use, then to just pop the thing out of there when going on the road.

Other than that though, no thanks. That touch screen just looked awful to me.

Anything none Apple seems to have a disturbingly amount of lag. If you have not used an Apple device for a decent amount of time you do not notice, but once you use one(especially touch interface) it makes it hard to use anything else without noticing it.

On another note, I think that Apple should come out with some kind of base/dock for the Ipad. Maybe something with plenty of storage, disk drive, ports, etc. Hp and Lenova have a good idea with their devices, but these other companies really need to build their OS from the ground up.

last, IBM had the right mindset. What you're saying would have been perfect for the iPad. I know many people who were hoping to have that and were waiting until the announcement to ditch their laptops. A touch screen slate with a dockable keyboard for extended use that folded up nicely...

I like what Lenovo did with the 'slate/laptop' but these companies then have all these different devices where they will all fall short in some areas, then you as a consumer really have no idea if they will truly support the device long-term. Personally, I look at that sort of thing now. Google has done a great job of supporting their Android mobile OS.

From a consumer standpoint, Apple has supported their devices for quite a while one way or another. Yes, they get gimped down the line to force you to upgrade to the 'next best thing' but they still support you regardless. And this is coming from someone who said Apple would NOT support the original iPhone as long as they did. Go back and read the original iPhone release thread. They've made me eat my words.

BTW, the Apple case folds up into a stand.

I don't doubt something like that will come someday. This will also work well to "prop" it up in a way. One of the reasons I would never use this thing is it has to be flat against whatever surface you put it against (unless you hold it up all day and give yourself carpal tunnel). That, plus my dislike for touch pads (typing, etc.) and disregard for protecting it from damage despite my will to... but that's besides the point.

Ah, but see, that is why I wouldn't need this thing. One you add the dock attachment, it's now a feature-limited laptop. They not only boast the touch pad typing, but they're charging you for the technology as well. So now if I wanted any sort of keyboard, I would have to pay more for it?

Again, I see zero use for this. I'm glad for people that do find its use (especially people that enjoy the touch screen tech), but even if I did want to get some new hardware, I would rather get an iPod Touch so I can have it in my pocket. I'm perfectly content with a laptop until the next big thing, though.

Yeah. I do think future generations could be more game changing though, we'll see.

The iPhone didn't have a app store or other features it has now...gotta give the iPad time to mature. That's why I'll never buy a 1st gen Apple product again, burned too many times.

Definitely not purchasing this. I'm very happy with my iPhone and MacBook Pro.

yeah blzr, when i did my game buying frenzy at the end of the year i did all best buy and i used my best buy mastercard for triple points. plus i bought some other stuff there as well at christmas. so it was time to get PAID!

on a related note - i wonder if gamestop has any clue how much business they lose to the reward zone plan? i told my local one. why would i shop where my loyalty is not rewarded? they had no answer. they did say they were "looking into a similar plan" but no details and no ETA.
