Does the auto lock work when closing the cover? If so, this is a great deal and I would buy now. The one case I got from BB by Rocketfish was horrible.

I'm wondering the same thing.. I ordered a case from Case Crown and had to send it back because the smart cover feature didn't work with the New iPad.

Yes, the auto-lock feature works.

It's not going to be Fort Knox - there are some areas exposed a drop could probably cause a little damage. But it's the nicest compromise I've seen between form and function at a very low price.

Most other cases are $30-$50. A bit ridiculous in my opinion.

Apple made a tiny change in the new iPad that is effecting a lot of 3rd party covers trying to use the smart cover open/close feature.

Apparently, people like to flip the Apple Smart Cover all the way around to the back of the iPad. But then the magnet sensors would get triggered again, and the screen would turn off. So now in addition to the location of the magnets, the iPad sensors react to the polarity of the magnets as well to prevent the "flip-around" problem.

The Targus case I bought has this problem. They are re-designing the case, manufacturing new ones and sending replacements out.

I caved and bought a Smart Cover. Then, I added the Belkin Snap Shield to put on the back. It offers great protection and it keeps the thin profile intact.

My wife and I decided to get a new ipad after my wife's computer (3 year old pc laptop) had its motherboard die last month.

We went with the black 16 gb, wifi only, got a smart cover and a wireless keyboard.

I'm blown away by the ipad, its amazing, and this is coming from a guy who already has an iphone. I love the multi-touch gestures, closing and switching apps. The extra screen real estate on the apps is great, and really well done on a bunch of apps.

We created a separate account on my macbook to allow her to sync her own itunes library and get photos on the ipad.Its gonna work really well as a laptop replacement. She basically uses it to browse the web, read new york times, use facebook, follow her google reader and manage her calendar.

Returned my ipad 3 i think i just keep my ipad 2 for novelty and grab a windows slate

Anyone know how to get the iPad 3 to show up as a camera device in My Computer again? It did when I first got it.. Could click on it and go in there and see all the pictures and videos I had taken.. But now it doesn't show up as a device anymore but still works fine with iTunes.. Just can't figure out how to get my pictures and videos off it anymore without emailing them to myself or whatever else..

I don't know how to do it without buying the camera connection kit from Apple. I really do hate their proprietary connectors. I don't see the harm in going mini USB.

I thought the camera connection kit was to be able to plug in memory cards and view them on the iPad? I'm talking about seeing the pictures/videos that I've taken with the iPad when I connect it to the computer.. I swear the first week I had it, when I hooke my iPad to the computer to sync it, I could go to My Computer and the iPad would be listed as a camera device and when I went into it, it had all the photos listed with camera filemames (IMG_1111.jpg, etc.)

So I am getting ready to move into a new Condo that has free wifi.
I need to get a laptop or cpu for my daughter. She is telling me she would really like an I PAD 2 which is nice because I dont want to pay for an I PAD 3. Where can i get the best deal on an I PAD 2 right now? She will be using it to surf the net and play games mostly.

So i was messing around with the iCloud feature and much to my surprise two movies I thought I had lost when my laptop crashed a few years ago were right there and ready for download. I had noticed a few songs I had lost were there well.

You can get them refurbished from Apple for $350. Just Google "refurb iPad."
