Re: Boardwalk Empire
Loved it. That scene with Jimmy/Nucky/Chalky with the brothers and Meyer Lansky was awesome. Jimmy: I wasn't going to, but you kinda talked me into it. LOL.
In case you didn't watch the Sopranos, a consistent thing with every season was that the BIG happening for each season was in the episode before the finale. Considering Boardwalk is from many of the same people behind the Sopranos, I'm curious to see if the BIG thing happens this upcoming Sunday.
Liked the character development with Harrow, too, along with seeing the darker side of Chalky (again) in this episode. Van Alden continues to be hilariously amusing.Comment

Gotta disagree a little. The pattern I saw in The Sopranos was a lot happening in the next to last episode and the season finale. In case you didn't watch the Sopranos, a consistent thing with every season was that the BIG happening for each season was in the episode before the finale. This year I rate it over Dexter and Sons Of Anarchy.Comment

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Most of the time, the big unexpected thing happened in the second to last episode of each season. They would even tease it not happening, but then throw it right back at you. Their finales have never really been on par with the second to last episode(s). At least in terms of shock. Although I guess they did a good job in that aspect with the conclusion of Ralphie and Chris coming out of nowhere in both cases. Ralph's I loved, Christopher's I hated and still hate.Gotta disagree a little. The pattern I saw in The Sopranos was a lot happening in the next to last episode and the season finale.
SoA is barely even a top show to me. Maybe like top 10, but it's hardly on the same scale of brilliance as the best on TV. Mad Men runs circles around it in terms of writing/acting alone. It's pretty hard to top Boardwalk Empire/Treme/Mad Men/Breaking Bad/The Walking Dead right now. This past year, these shows have leaped ahead of the pack. This year I rate it over Dexter and Sons Of Anarchy.
SoA is more of a dumb fun show. It could be more, I think of it as a bigger missed opportunity than a fine show, but it is what it is.
Never cared for Dexter at all. So yeah, my upper tier is what I posted (not counting comedies).Comment

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Was not a big fan of yesterdays episode. Maybe because after watching the Walking Dead, I expected more action, only to find more drama/storylines in B.E.
I don't understand why they needed to release the identity of Jimmy's father. Seems as if they just added it last minute to give Jimmy's character more facetime.Comment

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Probably because of who he is, it adds another dimension to this show. Who's Jimmy going to be loyal to? His dad or the guy who raised him? My guess is that it's not Jimmy's mom poisoning him, but Nucky, which will lead to a future conflict.
I admit, I was expecting more from that episode. Came off a little lackluster without having any real confrontation between AC/NY. Harrow's part about asking Jimmy whether he should kill the mother, sisters, and dentist was pretty funny. That guy is nuts without having to say a word. Him and Van Alden need a scene together.
The finale looks like it's going to be awesome.Comment

Re: Boardwalk Empire
I sure hope so. I just dont understand how you go from a great ending the episode prior to Sundays where they show Al Capone finally maturing and Rothstein's henchman was sent back after the brothers were murdered, to an episode about Jimmy's father, who we knew nothing about, Jimmy's mother, who has no relation to the story other than she's the reason why Nucky looks out after Jimmy, and the Irish girl leaving.
None of it makes sense. No suspense, no action. Just a lot of filler. It's like they saved everything for the season finale, but then they realized they were only on episode 11, so they put in a lot of garbage not related to the story.Comment

Re: Boardwalk Empire
You guys didn't like the way Van Alden offed the dirty agent? I though both scenes at the baptisms were awesome. Great acting. They did seem like they were setting some stuff up though. I wonder what Jimmy going to do with his baby Mama.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: Boardwalk Empire
I liked the dirty agent more than I did Van Alden. He creeps me out. I did like how he simply walked with his gun and badge in his hand out of the river. LOL that was great!Comment

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Yeah that stuff was good. I still didn't think he could get away with drowning him in front of roughly 50 believers.
To the rest of the episode, what shugknight said-a little on the filler side.Comment
