More Capone and more Chalky. Those two steal every scene they're in..

...though, that may be because everytime I see Capone I think "This guy becomes incredibly famous, so he's gotta start tearing **** up sooner or later" and everytime I see Chalky I think "Omar was a badass."

I admit, I was expecting more from that episode. Came off a little lackluster without having any real confrontation between AC/NY. Harrow's part about asking Jimmy whether he should kill the mother, sisters, and dentist was pretty funny. That guy is nuts without having to say a word. Him and Van Alden need a scene together.

The finale looks like it's going to be awesome.
That's what I thought at first but what does Nucky have to gain from that? He already runs the city. My only guess would be that he's (Nucky) written into the will but he doesn't seem that hurting for cash.

None of it makes sense. No suspense, no action. Just a lot of filler. It's like they saved everything for the season finale, but then they realized they were only on episode 11, so they put in a lot of garbage not related to the story.
Rothstein is the calculating type though. I saw his lack of involvement as a mixture of him plotting his next step and dealing with fixing the World Series. As much as he is vested in AC now the WS scandal offers more of a risk to him right now.

He might pretty much own the city and doesn't seem to be hurting for cash, but he's still answering to him and (more than likely) paying him heavily.

More than likely this is a move because he's afraid of Jimmy. He knows that the colonel is Jimmy's father and now that Jimmy is showing some serious backbone and smarts, the threat of Jimmy taking his spot under the colonel is too great. It also makes his original treatment of Jimmy make more sense, holding him back and forcing him into such a small role as his driver.

He still pays him (Nucky-Commodore) but I think you're right on all fronts. Jimmy going to Chicago was the best thing for Nucky.

So the maid was doing the poisoning.

Rothstein paid out of his a$$, but at least he's free.

Jimmy's friend "Two Face" is about as bad as he is.

It's an uphill battle for Nucky next season. Let's hope we don't have to wait a year and a half to see it (Sopranos).

I'm pretty sure it was Jimmy's mom doing it in hopes of gettings lots of money and was being told to do so by Nucky, and the maid just went with it.

Pretty underwhelmed with this episode. Thought the Nucky/Jimmy/Commodore storyline would have been a good one leading up to a next week season finale, but the fact that it's now done for a year makes it a pretty disappointing episode IMO.

Yeah, that was too anti-climactic to be it. I liked the finale, but it did kind of just blow right through the Rothstein/Nucky stuff, which was one of the main focal points of the season. The scenes of the election were really cool though, in a historic sense. They really nail the time period. The Godfather-like montage with Harrow/Capone/Jimmy was pretty badass. The mature and calculated Capone is already turning into an awesome character.

Also, the backstory on Nucky's wife and son was pretty disturbing, and I felt Buscemi nailed that scene.

I find that to be a bit of a stretch, and seems a bit out of character for Jimmy. I could see Nucky doing it, but they are also painting Nucky as kind of an anti-hero for the black community in the show, he uses them quite a bit but also seems genuinely disgusted with any racist treatment. I think the whole thing was as it was shown, maid was sick of being treated like dirt. Jimmy being behind it makes little sense, with him eating a poisoned cookie.

Well, he wasn't saying Jimmy was behind it, just Jimmy's mom.

Yeah, that was probably my favorite scene.

The finale didn't have that, "Oooo, I'm watching a crazy season finale" moment, but I was still really impressed with it, and I really liked the season as a whole. Probably one of my favorite new shows... maybe just behind Breaking Bad.

Yeah, that's my bad, I completely missed the "'s mom" in that post, but still that seems to make little sense. it's kind of sudden, and without motive, and who's to say she would get a dime anyway?

the mom's reaction to Jimmy bringing the news about the arsenic seemed suspicious. I erased that episode from my DVR, but that's the way I remember it.
