I have to agree. I throughly enjoyed the brutal boat beat down last episode, but I also liked the subtle things, like the show being pretty gritty about race relationships with Dabney Coleman's character talking down to a black servant, while Buscemi looks on with tepid displeasure, but having no problem with a shoe shine from a black, telling him to "watch the socks".

Interesting to see how they start and develop Michael K. William's character.

      That really was.

That was a great piece of writing & acting by him IMO.

Absolutely love this show. Since True Blood has ended I've been making it my weekly show to watch and man I do not regret it. Very good show.

Well that subtle thing was blatent plagerism by the writers. Pretty lazy actually as that scene was almost copied to an exact tee just substituing Anthony Hopkins for the black maid. I guess they figured the audience for BE wouldn't have seen the movie in the link below which is pretty famous in it's own right.

But then again the writer Terence Winter would plagerize alot on the Sopranoes disgusing them as homages to other movies but he would make it more obvious, with the above scene he might of been trying to sneak this one thru hoping no one would notice.

He didn't "plagiarize" on the Sopranos. The world of the Sopranos existed within countless mafia pop culture phenoms. How could they not make little references to the Godfather, Goodfellas (especially when half the cast have appeared in those films), etc? Or reference films like the Prince of Tides? They were going with certain ideas, some of which have been dabbled in. Rather than ignore the originals, they referenced them. They created a show that you thought was about the mafia, yet was actually about depression, psychology, modern medicine, and the state of current day America. I'd say it was a pretty cool idea and masterfully executed. Still love the show to this day.

I had no problem with the scene in Boardwalk Empire. I'm pretty sure I've seen a good number of films or shows or whatever have scenes similar to that one. It's a powerful way to show the viewer the class distinction from the time and setting.

Or maybe they thought the audience for BE wouldn't really care. What plagiarizing did Winter do on the Sopranos? Silvio's Michael Corleone impression?

Apart from the main premise of the show was borrowed from a Billy Crytal\Robert Deniro comedy and the resulting other mobsters finding out and wanting to go after Tony and Dr Melphi in the 1st season just like the mobsters in Analyse This wanted to kill DeNiro and Crystal after finding out he was seeing a shrink.

Other little things they did that was just lazy homages to other movies like when Christopher shot the guy in the deli in the foot which is a cute wink at Goodfellas but you can see coming a mile away and made the Sopranoes seem like a parody rather than a serious show. There are other instances like this but I just can't remember right now but I will.

The prohibition agent is pretty boring.
I am sure she will by Nucky's woman very soon.

Did that agent steal her ribbon and was sniffing it? I think the battle lines were drawn. The agent and Nucky will be battling over more than booze, it will get personal.

They reference this in season two, when Tony's new therapist won't see him saying "I've seen Analyze This" which led to a pretty hilarious response from Tony. This show and that movie are NOTHING alike. The Sopranos is an original idea, and went far beyond what Analyze This was.

You realize the Sopranos was probably in production already by the time Analyze This came out? What more than likely happened here, was they had an idea. Coincidentally, a comedy movie also had this idea.

You're obviously just looking for reasons to knock the show. It was never at any point "plagiarizing" anything you mentioned. If you think the plot of this show was ripped from Analyze This, then you obviously didn't watch the show.

Yeah, they are making this to be a pretty blatant turn of events.

Chase wrote the pilot in 1995, so it was impossible that they stole the idea from the movie.

Christopher shooting the deli clerk in the foot as his Spider character in Goodfellows was shot in the foot hardly qualifies the scene as a parody, let alone the entire series.

I watched every Sopranos episode. A parody it is not.

Wow, nobody watched this last night?

I think the show is great. Episode had some pretty big implications and will set up the rest of the season, but overall, I didn't like episode as much as the previous 2. Except for Nucky's woman of course.

I watched last night. It was another very solid episode. The scene's with Oma... I mean, Chalky were all great and @ Lucky Luciano dodging the draft by intentionally catching chlamydia. Also, the dressing room scene was top notch

I honestly think this show would be better as a 10 part mini-series than a TV show.

I don't know, things just seem to be really slow. I'm still enjoying it, but not as much as I thought I would.
