Scott, how much extra is this going to be for you? Is this your first and only genie? Trying to figure out if it's worth it. Thx.

Thanks. Sorry, I should have been more specific, how much per month extra is having 4k enabled?

Your first one is free though, like I have three TVs so I get charged $21 per month and then they give a $7 credit for the first one

Let me ask you this...I have an HR54-500, that is 4K compatible...so anything I need to do to get a 4K tv in my living room to work with 4K ? Do i need to even call them or am I set?

And then my next question is about the mini genies in my game room..I have the C41W-100's now...i don't think those are 4K capable...will I have to actually spend the $99 to get new ones or you think directv will just swap them out for me?

They'll need to come to out to make the changes, but the only way you can get 4K is through the C61K.

Well I just talked with them and they said I'd be able to use the DirecTV ready function of the Samsung and wouldn't need the C61K but they did say they'd have to come out to get it setup (and to get the old Genie Mini)

Does anyone else have a Samsung KS8000 or another DirecTV ready tv and, if so, how does it work?

Just wondering how well it works with bypassing the box...

That's true, it does have a RVU, but that client is much slower than the C61K.

Ok, so I think what I may just do then is try the RVU and see how it works, because if I got the C61K it's another $7 a month right?

I guess I could upgrade later on if I didn't like how slow the RVU is but in my game room, where the new 4K tv will be, it will mostly be movie watching and game playing, not really a whole lot of DirecTV watching.

Scott - Am I right in assuming that the C61K would be another monthly charge right?
