Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Now that the 65 inch Samsung 8000 is just about impossible to find (new), does anyone have any recommendations on a set that comes close to what this set offered for true HDR, response time for gaming, etc? In the same price range of course ($1500-$1800)...

    Thanks,

    C

I have the E6 and it does judder free on everything but 60p, same as the C6. I'll tell you now, I can't notice judder when watching over Chromecast or watching a Blu-ray on my PS4 Pro, which is when 60p applies. For those that notice it, the guys and gals on the AVS Forums have found that putting the Motion settings on Custom and setting the Dejudder slider to 1 or 2 emliminates almost every problem.

Me? I watch Blu-ray movies on my PS4 Pro without any interpolation assistance and probably because the picture quality is that jaw-dropping, don't notice any judder.

      YMMV

Thanks for the info....If I were to pick up an OLED....it would definitely be the C6 because I actually like the curve (definitely receives my Wife's "Stamp of Approval" when it comes to design) and I have read AWESOME reviews about its 3d capability....This will definitely force my hand to try out 3d content since in the past I haven't been too impressed with 3d, but from what I have heard regarding this particular OLED....it is definitely something I want to try!

This is great to know man....for some reason....my eyes are much more sensitive than others when it comes to judder/motion blur! Hate to see on the demo floor these units exhibiting artifacting and such on all the content they show....Then when I try to shut the motion processing off, take the picture off vivid, and make quick adjustments, it just re-calibrates to default....Is there some sort of program at Best Buy that makes the tv automatically go back to default settings? Just wondering.....

          @All -

For my reference (hate that Costco and Sam's Club have different product names/numbers than other big box stores)....

Is this below the same as the LG UH7700 series?

Most TVs, in their menus, have an option for retail mode. This is probably why that's happening, as I imagine best buy puts all their display units in that mode.

Sony 65" 900E is $1999. This would be the best option. Is getting excellent reviews.

                  Nope. That's a native 60 Hz panel. 7700 is a 120 native.

That is the TV I'm picking up. I will grab either the 49" or 55" in June if there is a good Father's Day sale. It's been going on sale for $100 off every now and then, but I'm hoping for a bigger discount in June.

If all goes well, and the Father's Day sale is what I hope, I will pick up the x900e on the morning of Microsoft's E3 conference, and hopefully find a 4K stream of it to watch the Scorpio reveal.

Yup, the exact TV I linked.... Unfortunately you won't find a TV exactly like the KS8000 in the price range it's at because it's come down in price since release. The 900E, like you mention, is reviewing well and in some aspects in the rtings side by side comparison is better than the KS8000 (motion) and in some respects it's worse (peak brightness, though "real-scene" brightness it scores better than the Sammy).

It does seem as if this year's KS8000 replacement, the MU8000, is considerably worse than the 2016 TV. Go figure.

Definitely a worse unit. They took the same tech out of it and put it into their QLED's. They replaced the Quantum-dot tech with phosphate instead. No comparison at all.

I got the KS8500 but it hasn't come in yet. For those that have it do you all like it for gaming and watching sports on it? I know what rtings.com says but just wanted to know what other people thought of it.
