Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
The problem is, Samsung jacked the price up of the Q. $2500 for the 55" is ridiculous. The MU is the cheap version, but jacked up to be at the same price point as the KS8000 was last year.
What's insane is that the KS8000 was a great TV, although it really needed some revision work. I expected a 2017 model that just nailed all the little bugs. Instead, Samsung tried to rip off consumers by using QLED in a way that made casual consumers think they were getting an OLED TV, and priced it that way.
Since I knew I was going to get a 4K TV this year, I've been following all of the new releases and comparing all of the reviews on rtings.com and other sites. When the process started, I figured a Samsung was going to be my purchase. But Sony's x900e comes off like the KS8000 with the revision work it needed.
I'll also say, that I use a TV stand instead of hanging it on the wall. The legs Samsung uses for a stand are really problematic. My stand is almost 45 inches wide. While the 49" is a close call, the 55" inch wouldn't fit.
Yet, with the x900e, I could go with a 65" if I chose to. While I will probably still stick with a 49" TV, at least the legs of the stand won't be at the very edge where it could be knocked off.
The center stand for Sony is also kind of cool in the way it acts as a channel for the wires. I'm not a fan of Samsung's solution which is to provide a separate box to plug everything into, so you have just one wire going to the TV. That is just like having a power brick, but worse since needs its own power source in addition to the TV.
If I had a KS8000 from last year, I would be happy and not even caring what came out this year. But as it is, waiting a year feels pretty good. That said, next year might be even better. But I'm not waiting another year.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
There are two places for the bracket stands on the television so that shouldn't be an issue. There's are two interior bracket stand slots and two exterior bracket stand slots.Last edited by ODogg; 05-26-2017, 03:30 PM.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

You can get it cheaper from online retailers. At one point I was able to get the 65 inch B6 for $2400 with free shipping, but I never pulled the trigger.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, if you can point me to those retailers, that would be awesome! My only concern is that I prefer to deal with a store that has a physical location that I can go to if ever I need a return....But I guess nowadays, that isn't an issue for most....But yeah, would be interested if I can get even a better deal than that....Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Since the XOX doesn't come out until 11/7 I've decided to wait until Black Friday to upgrade my TV. I don't really need a 4K TV right now. I'm hoping by that time I can score a good price on the KS8000, KS9000, or the 55B6p for around $999-$1500.
