Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
After getting home and hooking it up and using Rtings settings, man this Set is beautiful. I played my xbox one s on this and played Gears and Horizon 3 and man awesome, the lag when playing call of duty was stellar, for the Price and what this set offers its a perfect deal.
Also what i love about this set, is if your playing a game that supports HDR it will come up on screen in the right corner with the letters HDR letting you now its active and then it will unlock an extra HDR setting, for HDR Dark, HDR DARKER, HDR BRIGHT, HDR BRIGHTER, very nice feature, this settings only come up if your using something that uses HDR. My Hisense does not do this.
Best Part is my lady bought this for me, so I didn't pay a dollar lol, She's greatNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Starting the process with the wife....added "tv in guest room" to our to do list...lol
Not that I really have to be tricky, but more being funny. Just have to prioritize all the things after moving to a new house.
Then I'd probably want a Xbox One S...not sure if I'm really in the market for the X, I don't play enough currently and there are some awesome deals on S units around, especially this fall I betNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
So I don't know what is going on but I have been having this problem for a little while with my Samsung ks8000 55ich TV and my 4k player. The problem is that some times it will like flick a lot almost like it is trying to change inputs or something. I just was watching a episode of smallville on dvd and the player must have done that like 20 times gets really annoying and makes it hard to watch things not sure what is going on and so far it has only done if when I am using the player not when watching TV or playing games. I also some times have noise go out on the TV but that has only happened when I like first turn the TV on and if I unplug the TV's cable to the one connect box and then re plug it I get noise again. So annoying that I have been having issues I tend to like always have issues with tech for some reason. Not sure if the sound issue is just a issue with my Comcast box has that is like the only time I have really had issues with sound. When it comes to the flickering thing I am not sure if it is just a problem with the 4k player has I have not really had issues with it doing that outside of the player.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
^ That's called HDMI handshaking. Try and Google it with your TV and see what comes up, but normally it's a result of the cables or sources leading up to the set, and not so much the set itself.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I have heard of that term before but not sure what it means. Like I said the odd thing is I have only gotten the flickering with the 4k player not with Comcast or video games and the sound going out has only happened when I first turn the tv and there is no sound. Have never had the sound like go out while using the tv.Comment

If I don't turn my cable box on first, followed by tv and wireless speaker system, I don't get sound. It's crazy.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I have similar issues with the same set. CEC/Anynet is very fickle...you have this setting on in your System--->Advanced menu? Sometimes it can cause soundbars or other components to either not connect or cut out...like Blzer said it has to do with the HDMI handshakes and sometimes it just does not pair up correctly. I have read a lot about the Samsung issues with this and I think customers have been waiting for a downloadable fix for some time now.

It seems to happen more on 50 inch tv and sound bar.
But lately it seems to happen to 55 inch one gets annoying trying watch tv and sound keeps cutting in and out.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
The way that I recall how HDMI-CEC works, it recognizes when one item turns on that another can turn on alongside it. For example, if I turn on my PS3, it would also turn on my TV... and when I turn off my TV, it would also turn off my PS4. Since I have a Logitech Harmony universal remote with activities that coordinate this stuff already, that becomes more of a nuisance to have on than anything else, so I just disable it.
What does this have to do with handshaking? Sometimes the order which devices turn on causes this. My very first HT receiver that I got had to be turned on after I turned on my TV, or it would not accept the signal. In my current HT setup I have two Darblets daisy-chained together after the receiver, and when switching from watching a movie to watching TV I will sometimes not have a video signal until/unless I switch receiver inputs and back (or toggle its power).
Given the nature of digital bit encryption and so on and so forth, there is no real cure for this issue. It just comes with the technology.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
With CEC and HDMI handshake issues there really is no one solution fits all. I have to turn on my cable box or PS4 first before my tv. My tv will turn on the wireless speaker system (Enclave) as well. If I do not do it in this order, I don't get sound.
I had an issue where the PS4 when on would have the screen go black for a second...this happened about every 3-4 minutes. I had to change my set up to not use CEC while PS4 is on, and I use the Optical output directly from the PS4 to my Enclave wireless system.
So, as you can see, there are multitudes of issues and people experience different things...but they are all related to HDMI playing together well and CEC.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Looking to get some advice from the pros on here. I'm in the market and hope to get a good deal by Labor Day.
Looking for a TV that will send me into the next generation of TVs (ie., something that is built for the next wave of broadcast TV and won't be "old technology" in a year or 2). I'm not a person who upgrades TVs every 2-3 years. In fact, I'm still using a rear projection TV that finally conked out (don't judge me bro, LOL).
-65 inches minimum
-good for gaming
-good for Netflix/streaming
I have no idea where to start besides looking at what specs are on the highest priced TVs and working backwards. OLED, SUHD, etc. I have no idea what's best.
The easiest thing to do is to go to the store and see them in person, but that can be deceiving sometimes because you can fall in love with something that is good now but won't last.
I appreciate any advice I can get.Comment
