Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
With how so many games in next gen console games aren’t 120hz how important is a 120hz panel?
What happens if you can have a 60hz panel that handles well and interpolates 30 and 60?
Are there tvs that have both and are just 60hz?Brand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Fact is, there are no great 60 hz TVs. That’s for a reason.

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Any parents here ever use a Mantle Mount for a normal TV setup? I am thinking of getting one so that I can move my TV up and out of the way some now that I have a 9 month old who will be walking and throwing stuff soon. I can't live with Tv ToO hiGH for most viewing and just pull it down while they aren't in the room, or once it's no longer an issue.
Or I could just ban hard toys in the media room lolComment

I think a mount at a more typical height is probably fine. I have a 5 year old and 8 month old, and all I ever did was implement a strict soft balls only rule in the house.
Of course, I’m mounting my new tv last week after zero issues with my old plasma, and 15 minutes into its life it takes a Don’t Break The Ice hammer at full 5 year old velocity…
I’m pretty sure it’s fine.
But still, it’s usually easy enough to direct the action away from the TV set.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
From what I could make out, the H9G is still the better option for pure picture quality, but it's limited to hdmi 2.0, and only offers true 120Hz at resolutions below 4k. The u8g is more up to date spec wise, but apparently falls just short of the older H9G in the picture quality department.
Personally, unless you have a specific game(s) in mind that supports 120fps, future proofing probably is really only going to have a meaningful impact for the next console generation, and who knows where things will be by then.
4k/60 is already at the limit of what the current consoles can handle for anything of AAA quality, so I don't think that having HDMI 2.1 is practically all that important for basically the rest of this decade.
The Hisense H9G 65" was $700 on amazon when I bought mine a couple weeks ago and it looks awesome at that price. I'd probably recommend that if you're going Hisense, but the u8g would be my 2nd choice if I had to have HDMI 2.1 and 120Hz across the board. Now, more than everComment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Out of those, I'd do the Q70.

Would you not knock it for lacking full-array local dimming?

My LG C1 got here a day early yesterday. So far I’ve watched 2001: A Space Odyssey and Into the Spiderverse and was not disappointed.
I expected to be impressed, but the damn thing knocked my socks off.
