Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
id like to know his reasoning as well.
I just got a plasma, and there is no way an lcd can touch the graphics on this thing. Plus isnt plasma alot faster??
I popped in mlb the show just to see how it looked, and couldnt believe how much better it looked on my new plasma.
the only negative i have about my plasma is that the default settings make it seem a bit dark. I know i can make it brighter, but Im afraid it will damage the TV in the long run.
I did get the 4 year warranty on this thing. I think thats a must for lcds or plasmas.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I prefer plasma over LCD any day of the week due to the natural picture and lag is to a minimum for gaming. We watch a lot of movies and I feel like LCD can't compare to the natural picture, deeper blacks, no real need for post processing, panels, etc of the plasma.
LCDs are brighter and worry free. Don't have to be concerned with static images from games and/or broadcast shows. You'd have to go out of your way to cause burn-in though.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Agreed. If I want to watch a movie, I'd always choose a plasma if given a choice. LCDs (LEDs in particular) have closed the gap and are a worthy 2nd option if you have a well-lit room that you can't control the light source.

I fell asleep watching Fight Club on blu ray. The menu screen was up for 3 or 4 hours. I was like ohh crap but the IR went away after a couple minutes of watching regular tv.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I agree 100%. Man, after going panny plasma I'm never going back to lcd. Plasma is a way better picture. Like you said deeper blacks and a beautiful natural picture. Also, very low input lag. I've owned 2 lcd and one led. The only thing imo lcd/led have over plasma is they consume less power.Comment

If you watch tv in a bright room that you cannot control lighting then get an LCD or LED..
But go to Best Buy and look at an LCD from an off angle and compare it to a Plasma off angle. Plasma wins each and every time.
Motion blur is also a big issue with LCD, LED and not with a Plasma
The main reason I prefer my Samsung Plasma to my other Panny plasma is because it is brighter by default but with the greatness of plasma tech
The game setting on the Panny is very bright so try that if you have not...It is well done and can be editedComment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Plasma is an acquire taste and LCD is a bright sexy tech. But the average person does not know or care about color accuracy or inky black levels.
They see a torch mode LCD and it is all big and bright and it is appealing.
But watch a great plasma in a dark room on blu ray and after 30 minutes you will never EVER go back to LCD for movie or sports.
LCD to me is just for bright rooms and using your PCComment

I thought that brighter pictures were nice when I first got into HDTVs, but after getting plasma, I'll never go back. Plasmas just look more natural.NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.Comment

The gap in PQ between Plasma & LCD has tighten so much (especially LED) that right now it's all about personal preference & what looks best in your viewing space.Comment
