Would be rather nice if more of these companies would go that route.
Yea you can go into the sm but unless you a pro I suggest not to because one wrong move and you can brick the tv

I read that you cannot fix the Gama in the sm

Only Panasonic can do that via a fw

One to consider I guess. Been looking on AVS and other places testing TVs, hope to find something.

Watched Batman: The Dark Knight last night. One of two things are true.

            1) My eyes are going bad

            OR

            2) My GT31 does not suffer from the fluctuating brightness that some people are experiencing.

I did not notice it one single time.

Giants (and others). I apprecaite your help and suggestions but I'm probably done reading this post because I'm just not seeing any issues and I don't want to see any if they are there. I love everything about this TV. Its outstanding.

However, if problems start to pop up, I'm sure I'll be back in touch.

No offense to anyone who works at BestBuy but wow I walked in there and new exactly what I wanted and he tried to get me to change my mind 3 times.

The fiancé wanted a LCD TV mounted on our bedroom wall so I saw a nice Insignia 37 inch 1080p I like. I told the guy that's what I wanted and he kept trying to sell me at 50+ inch TV after I already told him I had a big screen in my basement for my football and NASCAR viewing pleasure. Anyway I got the insignia and it's mounted on the wall I absolutely love it. Oh and yea so does the fiancé.

IPS Panel will give you good Screen Uniformity & better viewing angles when watching off-axis. Response Time is more about software.

I'll post a few models for you tomorrow.

Figured I'd take a shot and ask a question hoping someone here can help me. I have a 42" Samsung DLP that my dad bought for the house probably 5 or 6 years ago or so. Recently the TV has been turning itself off intermittently at random intervals. Sometimes it will be on for hours and then shut off, other times as little as 5 minutes. I did a bit of research and found that it may be the bulb that's burnt out which I guess they tend to do over time. I thought I'd ask if anyone in here has any experience with this or knows what else it could possibly be before I spend like $120 or so for a new bulb. Thanks guys.

Does the tv have the latest FW on it.?

Normally the tv would not go back on you after just 5 years with it unless there was an internal issue that is not caused by a burnt light

Might want to check the FW on it and update it if possible because some tvs a few years ago had this issue which was fixed with a FW update.

I'm about 100 hours in on my PN64D7000 and this set is absolutely incredible. I am having Chad B. out to calibrated it next week too.
