Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Thats sucks, because getting a TV above that wood stove would free up so much room.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
The two TVs I really want don't exist
ideal main TV
-plasma (SPORTS), 1080p
-60 inches
-.2 inch bezel around the outside like the Samsung un8000 LED
-1.2 inches thin
-passive 3D (is this possible for plasmas?)
-WiFi built in, I guess - I don't think I really care about all of the apps and all that jazz but would be nice to stream wirelessly from iMac
-capable of sending audio wirelessly to receiver (is this standard/possible? Don't have a receiver yet but for future-proofing myself)
-screen not too glossy
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN59D6...4214895&sr=8-1 This one is close but not perfectly thin with super thin bezel, has active 3D
then for another TV on the same wall:
-50/51 inches
-Plasma
-All of the above except NO 3D - the problem is there don't seem to be any super thin good looking TVs that don't have 3D.
This one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004WOBOM8 is good but went from 1.5 inches deep to 2.2 inches when you got rid of 3D and internet (WHYYY)
Anyone recommend any super sleek plasmas?
This LG Infinia LED http://www.amazon.com/LG-Infinia-55L...4215447&sr=1-1 is nice but the bezel is a little thick plus it's an LED not Plasma and its not quite big enough maybe
And this Samsung is nice http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004QFGGTY but I dont want to pay for the 240 Hz, its a bit expensive, active 3D - and as soon as you step down it loses the .2 inch bezelLast edited by NC State-31 UNC-27; 08-24-2011, 03:56 PM.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
ok. Im calling on all plasma tv junkies here.
My dlp tv just blew its 4th bulb in 4 years, so we decided to get a new tv instead.
I ended up getting the panasonic viera 1080p 3d plasma.
it was on sale for $999 and came with a pair of glasses.
Anyways. I was wondering if you guys had any setting for best viewing experience?? It comes with 4 presets and right now Im using the "vivid" one, and I have to say it looks almost too real.
Now for my next question. When watching movies or people walking around it seems as though its too real. Its kind of hard to explain but it doesnt seem like its a movie in motion. Somebody told me there is a setting for this but I cant find it. Hopefully some of you guys know what im talking about.Comment

Splitter take that tv out of vivid mode ASAP. You are going to get bad Image Retention.
Put it in standard mode with Contrast set to half. Personally I would put in Movie Mode for the 100 hours of viewing so the prosphers can age evenly.
