Sold my 55” CX last night on FB Marketplace for $500 and went to BB and picked up a 55” C2. Debating if I should get it professionally calibrated.

So as you can see, Hisense is the better option of the 2.
Appreciate the response. Yeah those were the 2 sets I was looking at and they got pretty good reviews on the YT channels I watch. It comes down to get either of those or get a cheaper TV and plant a few trees for the house. Wife voted trees. So I am looking at something like the Hisense U6H or the TCL 5 series. I know there are no HDMI 2.1 ports on the set. All things being equal would something like the U6H or the TCL 5 look better than the TV I am currently using for TV and the PS4 and the PS5?

      This is my current TV.

It looks nicer than the 2014 version, but on the inside there's not much different about 2015 Vizio E-series TVs. It has good picture quality for the price, but ...

You and I seem to be sitting in the same boat. Our main tv crapped the bed so my gaming tv became the main tv leaving me with a beyond subpar tv for the PS5, so here I am.

To take advantage of the variable refresh rate, the tv has to have hdmi 2.1 and that's what I am stuck on. I can't get any definitive answers that vrr makes a big enough difference, but my thought is that if I have the PS5 I want to take advantage of all it can offer, but we too have other home needs so spending too much on a tv doesn't seem too responsible, but heck, in 50 years it won't matter anyways.

        Edit: There is this: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung...?skuId=6537422

This model has 3 hdmi 2.1 ports but just a 60hz.

I would be very careful about accepting the info on Best Buy. This review by rtings states the TV does NOT have any 2.1 HDMI ports. I must just bite the bullet and get the 55 inch Hisense U8H. This set is a bit better than the U7H and is just a few bucks more. I dunno I really don't have much in the way of games currently for the PS5 and I rarely watch any TV in the room I am going to buy this TV for. Here's the review on the Sammy.

Fair enough. I was just throwing that Samsung out as a possibility, mainly because of the price.

I was looking at the LG C2 42" that is rated at the top tier and is 1k right now at Best Buy. I too am thinking of just going with the Hisense U8H because it has everything I'm looking for and the price is $650 at BB. I guess why I keep second guessing that TV is that it is a Hisense and worry that it will fall into the "you get what you pay for" category.

High end Hisense TVs are good. Hisense you get from Walmart however are not, because Walmart carry the entry level of every tv brand.

Build quality is not good, they have to make money somehow. Looks great but may not last.

Keep your eye out daily at BB. The 42” C2 was $799 a couple days ago. When I got my C2 a few months back I caught it for $799. Good luck on your search.

YMMV, but walmart has the 48" for $779 right now

Right now is prime time for clearance sales.

Things never stay the same. Years ago you would have never thought of buying a Hyundai or a Kia or a Goldstar appliance now LG. Hisense and TCL are catching up to Samsung and LG. You might get lucky with build quality. I have 5 Vizios scattered around the house from 7 to 10 years old and they work as good as the day I bought them. The PQ is not up to current standards but they still work.

So I see Hisense has dropped the 50 inch offerings this year. Why would anyone buy the new U6K for slightly under $500 when you can pick up the 2022 U7H which does have HDMI 2.1 for $550 now?

People always assume newer is better.

You're right, and we're conditioned to think that way...

Using my caveman brain, I am looking at two specs, refresh rate and hdmi 2.1. I just want my ps5 to run at its peak capability. I am willing to pay for a tv at the top tier, but would rather find a deal. With that, I haven't considered the U7H because it isn't newer than the U8H, so I've been conditioned well.

Well those are both 2022 models 2023 will be K. Can't see spending 1500 bucks for a Samsung but thinking if I spend 550 for the U7H I might as well just drop 700 for the U8H at this point.
