LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

The main question I have is: the site I ordered my stuff from just got the C4 42" in stock. Is there really any major update between the C3 and C4 that should make me get the C4 instead, I mean, it's like $600 more. I think I'll be good with the C3.

Probably not worth the $600 price.

The LG C4 OLED looks great, but it’s not the largest leap in technology from the LG C3

If the additional processing power and the switch to a native 144Hz refresh rate are high up on your list of must-haves, then the C4 OLED is worth saving up for.

Those two things are nice, but if that's really all, that's different. I'm sticking with the C3 then. It's probably not worth the $600 extra, as I'm sure I'll get a few years out of the C3.

Scott, What are your thoughts on the OLED monitors that have been pumping out.

      As always, thanks Scott.

I'm picky, but someday I'll be in need of a 4K OLED ultrawide monitor with 144Hz.

Those four things in tandem are surely a pipedream, unless I spend about $50k for it.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

This may be a long shot, but I was wondering if there's any way to know how long a TV will be on sale on the best buy website.

The reason I ask is because on the website for my location it lists the Hisense 65U7K at 679.00, the normal price is 799.00 so right now that's 120.00 off, are they clearing out old stock getting ready for new models?

Hopefully this lower price will be around for a while as this TV checks all the boxes I'm currently looking for.

                Thanks for any insight.

Kind of surprised Sony still capping their TVs at 85" when you have Hisense, TCL, Samsung, LG going to 98" and above. Also surprised Sony biggest OLED is still a 77".

It's been a long time since I've looked into purchasing a Tv (2018). In the past, I've gone with the second tier Samsung tv's (Series 8). I watch sports, movie and video games and am looking to upgrade to a 75" + screen size up from my current 65 inch set. I'm not really in a rush to make the purchase and have heard it's best to avoid some of the TV deals during Black Friday sales.

What are the new buzz words or features I should look for in a new tv?

                          Thanks, fellas.

If money isn't an issue and if you ever plan on getting a PS5 Pro, I would look into 8K TVs. If not, then an OLED will do. Can't go wrong with either a Samsung, LG or Sony OLED.

                            Far as buzz words:

                            HDMI 2.1 is key.
                            VRR
                            4K 120HZ

I wouldn't avoid the Black Friday Deals. Best Buy have some good deals on their top of the line OLEDs currently.
