Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
The setting for THX is not hidden. It gives you the contrast, brightness, tint, etc. But I still have no idea what it means to change the gamma. So I'm not sure how to answer this question. I guess I need to just quit reading this thread because its causing me to look for little things that I just simply don't see.Comment

In thx it is measured at 1.9 in testing. Gama is not available for tweaking in thx mode. At 1.9 the pic does not have the pop and dark do not look inky, it looks more mellow
In custom u can change all but thx is pre calibrated by Panasonic therefore skin tones and colors look great and nothing you can do in custom can match what thx offers even with tweaking. Only way is to calibrated by a pro. If panny fixes the 1.9 Gama to 2.2 then you will see how incredible it would look.Comment

Go to custom settings and there is a Gama option that the higher you set it the darker the dark. The usual calibrated setting is between 2.2 and 2.5

Also, have you called about the firmware update? Did you get it? I'd still like to get the update but would like to know exactly what to ask them and who to call.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Gotcha. I've thought about having mine calibrated. But didn't know if it would really be worth the money. I think its around $200 for Best Buy to do it.

Never ever ever ever ever let Best Buy calibrated your set. They do not have clue, might as well hand them your money
If you ever want a great one then I will put you up with a guy who does great work and travels.
Plasmas should be calibrated if you choose after about 150hrs of useComment

It would not yield the same results due to custom not having CSM (color service menu)Comment

I will call them but that is what a member posted on a forum. I will let you know what they say.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I just bought a LG LK330 32" 720p LCD TV, but its not really fun playing games on it. The response time, input lag, and blur from slow refresh rate make it almost unbearable for shooters, and sport games.
The picture is amazing until faster motion starts. I had a strict budget so I couldn't get a more expensive plasma or faster refresh rate LCD.S E A N N y TComment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Game mode on this TV seems to be nothing more than a change in contrast and brightness settings, I doubt it's changing the processing of the TV in any way.
Yes I can still return it, so another option of TV suggestions is welcomed. My budget is $400 or under. I paid $280 plus 2 year warranty for the current TV. It was that cheap because of a July 4th sale at hhgregg.
I would like to get a TV that has input lag of 1 frame or less (17ms), but I doubt anything like that can be found for under 400 and is not a PC monitor. Also would like to stay in the 32 inch size.S E A N N y TComment
