Re: Plasma or LCD?
When are these LCD-LEDs 55" hdtvs going to come down in price? I saw a Vizio that I love at Walmart for $1298. Still a little too pricey though.
Do you guys think there is that much of a difference in picture quality between a LCD and LCD-LED? Thinness doesn't bother me.PSN: sportdan30

LED's are better but only if you get a local dimming LED which I think Vizio has. Do not get any edge led.
If it comes down between edge led or lcd then get an lcd.
Remember that LED's are LCD tv's but the diff is that LCD use full bulbs which are long therefore you do not see any crop circles on dark scenes.
LED's are small bulbs that are suppose to enhance the color accuracy when in dark scenes and improve blacks which is the key think to representing accurate colorsComment

If you want a great LCD then this one will blow your mind.
If you can find it then go for it. Is from last years B model LCD series but it kicks the butt of any of this years LCD's

Re: Plasma or LCD?
One more question, I finally got my new LED TV tuned to where I want it. Then I pop in Halo Reach and notice terrible motion blur. Run to Google, type in Halo Reach motion blur and a get a ton of results. On the two previous LCD TVs I've seen Halo Reach played, I've notice either very little to no motion blur. Popped in Blacks Ops on the LED TV and it's perfect. Is there any reason why this LED TV makes the motion blur in Halo more obvious? The 120hz to 60hz difference?Comment

Does your tv have game mode?
Try Motion Blur ON but low
To test for input lag
Pop in Madden if you have it. Put it on All Madden and go to practice mode
Kick off and see if the kick meter which should be faster, hit when you press the kick button. If there is bad input lag you will have issues hitting the mark.
If you have zero issues after a few tries then leave it at low with Tru Motion On
If you get lag to where is hard for you to get the kick to go on command then turn it off
True Motion is suppose to help reduce the blurComment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Tried Madden, noticed no difference in input between off, user, low, and high. I've now tried:
NBA 2K11
PES 2011
Madden 2011
NFS Hot Pursuit
Black Ops
Mass Effect 2.
All those game I have 0 issues. No lag, looks great, everything is fine. In Reach I just don't understand. There is no difference between TruMotion off, low or high. I can also adjust it manually for user and change settings between blur and judder.
The motion blur is there no matter what. Don't want to return the TV just for one game so I guess I'll have to live with it.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Might as well tone down everything if you want to "break it in," going with sharpness as well. Also try and avoid watching anything that has a static image, including sports tickers, or black-barred shows/movies. So in that case, looks like you'll be watching a lot of PBS HD.
But just remember, it's the white that burns in not the black. I don't know what that has to do with anything, but basically if you watch a dark movie like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then I don't think having the horizontal black bars will affect anything very much.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Few things:
Break-in should be about 1 1/2 months
1. Lower the contrast to something between 50-55 (make sure it's not in vivid mode)
2. Make sure your viewing takes up the entire screen (change the aspect ratio to do this)
3. Static images are not good. Static DVD/blu ray menu screens are also not good.
A little image retention is to be expected...the phosphors have to age. IR is temporary.
If you do this, you should be good to go. Enjoy.Comment
