Re: Plasma or LCD?
I'm one click away from ordering this T.V. (The wife is telling me to pull the trigger so all systems are go.) lol
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Does anyone have any experience with this T.V.? I'm going to be making a gaming office in my basement and I will not have to worry about light. I will also be fairly close to the T.V. so 42 is about perfect.
My worries are that I'm going to get burn in and that the black levels are going to turn grey on me.
Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
I have a panasonic 32" LCD that I gamed on and moved it up to the master bedroom and mounted on the wall. The 42" plasma that was in the living room is now in the game room. The new 50" is now in the living room. The other 42" is in a guest room. They are in excellent condition and the picture still looks as good as when I first got them. No reason for me to switch brands at this point, they have been good to me.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
I'm annoyed that I can't get Avatar due to the exclusivity with Panasonic. I've actually contemplated paying the $150 or whatever it's selling at on ebay to get a copy of it. Then I come back to my senses.
I'd hate to see 3D get too deep into exclusive titles. I hope this doesn't continue down the road.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
I purchased the other two in 2007 on a black Friday deal, they are 42". They are still in use and get moved around with each new tv addition.

Re: Plasma or LCD?
"Breaking in" nowadays just means lowering the contrast (50 or so) and making sure your screen is completely filled by the picture. And not leaving static images in place for long periods of time. Some people run color slides to speed up the break in period.
Some would argue that you don't even need to break in plasmas now.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
I put How to Train Your Dragon on for the kids in Blu-ray and I was blown away. That jumped to the top of my list for best picture quality on a home system so far. I checked into buying it in 3-D and saw that it's a samsung exclusive.
The 3-D copy sells for $90-$140 without glasses on ebay! How does this exclusivity deal help sell T.V.s?Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Burn-in is almost a non concern. You'd have to be pretty negligent for burn in to happen. What you may see is some temporary image retention, especially on just out the box plasmas. You simply do a color wash and it goes away.

Re: Plasma or LCD?
Flight, which plasma ans model did you buy? Plus everything that I have read, you do not want to use the anti-image retention scrolling bar too much either. What I was reading and have been told is that its good to use once a week or every few weeks, unless you have really bad image retention that will not go away. You do not want to abuse this feature as it can do some harm to your set.Comment
