Yeah, we got it Friday night. I went to the hardware store and bought one of these http://glowrod.showpricenow.com/gb-e...ish-stick.html
They're not really made for HDMI cables, but I improvised with some electrical tape.
I'm still undecided about a surround sound system, but I will probably make a decision within the next week.
did you use any hdmi wallplate??
if not, i suggest my grommet idea, just in case you have any critters inside your walls.
the grommets are like $2 at home depot and they come with covers that are great for two hdmi sized wires.

The bottom of my TV is 2'3" from the ground and I sit 9 feet away. When I am sitting up straight my eyes are lined up with the dead center of my TV screen. I have found that this setup is also optimal for surround sound. My side speakers are about one foot behind my head pointed straight towards my ears and my rear speakers are about two feet away from either shoulder behind my back and are lined up perfectly with the front speakers. The side and rear speakers are about 5'6" from the ground too. It is just pretty much perfect. 64" screen with 7.1 surround.

Right now at Best Buy, you can get an LG 42LK450 42'' 1080p 60hz LCD for $486.99. It was $699 3 weeks ago. It was one the lowest input lags available. It is an IPS panel if you look on the product label and see something like this: 42LK450-UA CUSYLH. The key is the "Y". Which mean its an IPS panel. IF its a "D" or an "A" instead, then it's a VA panel. Just an FYI. LG must clearing out for the 2012 models in January.

The 55 inch was rated as an average set, the smaller versions were rated slightly below average.

That's what I've been gathering. The price is a temptress, though.

Anything has to be better than the POS Sanyo I've been "barrowing."

okay me and my friend both have nba 2k12 for ps3.

My tv is a 40 inch 1080p 60 LCD (LED?) hz toshiba. $599 or $699

His tv is a 42 inch 1080p 240 hz LED Sony Bravia google tv. $1200

It doesn't even look like the same game. His tv just looks so much better than mine. It looks way crisper, sharper, and even has better sound. In fact I feel like I'm playing in SD now. I priced a Samsung for 799 and sony for 899. both led 1080p 120 hz.

Is there a big difference of 240 hz vs 120 in terms of gaming? I just don't understand why his picture is so much more defined. Any advice on TV shopping?

                        Few things:

Sony Bravia >> Toshiba in most cases (Samsung as well)
120 Hz >>> 60 Hz in every case
LED backlit will be better if it has local dimming... IMO, edge lit LED is not much better than traditional LCDs

                        Watch: http://www.5min.com/Video/60Hz-vs-120Hz-HDTV-429939327

Advice: Best bet would be to go with a Samsung or Sony. Also, definitely go 120 Hz (240Hz is overkill IMO)

thanks man one last question. How important is response time? and what exactly should I look for. I'm still googling for that.

I was just about to say that 120 Hz means processing on the TV, which means more input lag is created. I don't know how significant the delay is and how important that would be for, say, jumpshot timing, but it certainly doesn't improve response time, that's for sure.

So to say "120 Hz >> 60 Hz in every way," there is one way that it is not (two ways if you're talking about watching movies).

BTW this is the TV I'm considering. Thoughts? Suggestions?

The Panasonic is 600hz but they say it has the lowest input lag. You think this is the case, or would I just activate gaming mode on it to get it right?
