Start putting some cash aside so you can get that sucker calibrated by a pro now. If you think the picture looks good now, just you wait!

Congrats on the purchase as well. Also, how high up do you have it mounted? Is it reasonably close to eye level when sitting down?

The TV is mounted pretty high. I have a 10 degree tilted mount and am utilizing every degree it allows. It is definitely not the recommended height.

I fired up a game of NCAA 12 and I had no issues with the screen being higher than eye level.

In an ideal world the television would be lower. I just didn't have the option in this small man cave.

My wife and I have a DLP TV that's dying, so we're looking now.

Did a bunch of looking around and it sounds like Plasma is what we want. I found this on BestBuy and it's got really good reviews on most of the sites I've checked.

I'm starting to look around for something in the 70"+ range. I've got a 56" DLP that has been great for about 6 years now, but I'm looking to upgrade. Doesn't have to be immediately, I could probably wait up to a year or so, but its on the radar. Do they even make screens this size or should I be looking at projectors if I'm looking at 70"+?

They have stopped making that model. I bought the same TV that also had 3D/Wi-Fi and had to get the display model.

That was on Super Bowl Sunday so I highly doubt you're going to find those TV's floating around. They priced them to get them out the door.

I went to Best Buy, checked out the LG...and it was pretty good. They had the PV400 instead of the PV450, so I balked with it at $750. I wanted to really look into the PV400.

I go back today with my eyes on a Panasonic 50" Plasma P50ST30. It has a wifi dongle, 3D, 1080p, and is on sale for $730. The only one left was the model and it was too good a deal to pass up. With a 10% discount it came to $657. I bought the 4-year warranty for $170 so I walked out with the tv for $874.61.

I was hesitant about getting a display model until I heard about the warranty. If anything happens they take care of it (excluding accidents).

I'm happy with my purchase and can't wait to get my electrician over here to set it up with me. I have a brand new Pioneer 5.1 receiver with Boston Acoustic speakers ready to go!

does yours have the fluctuating brightness issue? Ive been waiting 1 month now for them to replace the A board and its still on back order.

also- i turned off the motion smoother the second i watched a movie. Do you leave yours on or off?

I have yet to see any fluctuating brightness. Also, due to the model being the display, I'm going to have to say if there was an issue Best Buy probably took care of it. They wouldn't want that issue to scare away customers.

The soap opera effect is there at times, but it doesn't bug me that much. I've only watched TV shows on DVD, no blu-rays yet. I guess we'll see if it is something I really need to do.

The one thing I'm disappointed with is the vieracast. It doesn't work as advertised in the sense that the cursor (blue box showing which option you are on) doesn't show up on the screen consistently.

We did set up our amazon prime account and have browsed the options (which are terrible lol) but we have some options nonetheless!

So far I am very satisfied with the television for the price.

Dammm...Amazon just delivered my TC-P65VT30 from Panasonic and the damm thing has a stuck pixel....It is driving me nuts knowing is there

They will replace it next week and pick this one up.

I took delivery of a Sharp LC-70LE735 70" 3D TV in early January. Total cost: $2800 shipped. I haven't had one complaint yet. I did have it professionally calibrated but with just a few tweaks out of the box, the picture was already rock solid.

What's with needing someone to help set it up, though? Isn't it just a TV? Put it down, run through some stuff and that's that?

I've noticed Amazon has some crap about someone coming to set it up for you for some reason.

Ok, looking for some help here. I will be purchasing a 50ish inch tv sometime in the next few months to replace a Samsung I bought in 2007 that was, at the time, "top-of-the-line" as far as models go (still brings a tear when I think about what I paid for it).

Anyway, long story short, I have three LCD tv's and I would really like to get a plasma this time, for the speed of the screen. I play alot of videogames and watch alot of Blu-Rays. However, I know plasmas don't do great with glare. My dilemna is, my condo faces west so I basically get sun coming in from about 2 or 3 in the afternoon until whenever it sets. I have blinds that mitigate the effect but obviously don't eliminate it.

Would I be foolish in getting a plasma despite this? It'd be a waste of money if I couldn't enjoy it at crucial times of the day (sun doesn't go down until 8 or 9 in the summer). I've never had a plasma so I'm wondering if the glare is as bad as people make it seem?
