Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
LOL, you guys are awesome. Seriously. I am such a dumb***, considering I had no idea that I needed an HDMI cable.
I am going to catch A LOT OF HEAT... I know... But it's OK. I bought an HDMI cable at Walmart for $42. I know I probably got ripped off considering the links you guys are posting, but I had to see what this TV could do. I will go the cheaper route for future HDMI cable purchases but I don't regret it, tonight I saw what this TV could do in all its glory...
Played The Show. I am blown the **** away. Wow. I can't believe that I have been missing out on this for so damn long. Maybe I will order some of the cheaper HDMI cables that you guys have posted and then return the Walmart one, but wow.
I just can't believe it. And you guys are awesome. I knew next to nothing and you guys REALLY helped me out. I can't say enough about you guys, I really can't.
I am not putting the TV in that corner. I decided to keep it away from my 2-year-old. He can continue to watch the 32" Aquos, and I will put this TV in my formal living room where it belongs - with the rest of my nice stuff. I will post pictures when the mounting is done, which should be tomorrow sometime.
I couldn't believe that damn picture. Wow.
I mean it when I say that I love you guys. LOL. This TV is PERFECT. It is everything that I wanted.
Thank you again.Comment

Yes you need an HDMI cable. There is no such thing as a "ps3 hdmi cable" though, they are all the same. - http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-H...=operasport-20

They didn't even have one for $20?
Just order one and when it gets there take back the old one.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Agreed. Take that sucker back when the cheapies arrive. A receipt gets you your money back, no receipt gets you store credit (which is as good as cash at Wally World).Comment

I don't think I'll ever be able to go LED or LCD. Gamec0ck maybe you will get what I am seeing, but the motion just doesn't look natural. This is ranging from a Panasonic 42" LCD to a Samsung 60" LED. Not really a blur. Hard to describe.Comment

Plasmas have a more natural look overall to me. Especially when watching sports.Comment

Been thinking about a new set. 55' at least. Not trying to pay too much over a grand. Don't care about whether or not it's wifi enabled or has apps and all that jazz. Just want something with an excellent picture for the price. 3D not required. LCD, LED, Plasma I don't really care too much.
Been casually browsing around and saw this for 998:
Is that a good one for the price, or can I do better?PS: You guys are great.

Free shipping. Don't have to pay tax so it only comes out to be like $20 more. Panasonic >>>>>>> VizioComment

I remember reading reviews of that set and getting discouraged after seeing all the complaints about the fluctuating brightness issues. That was for the 50 inch version though, I don't know if it's across the board for all models.
I know there was a firmware update for European countries but not for North America at the time, and since this set has been discontinued I'm wondering if all the remaining ones sent out will have that problem without a fix. Actually, reading an update to this review I see that there was a sort of patch but it requires a tech coming out to install it. Now how much more would that run me?
Other than that everything sounds really positive with it. I just know that it would nag me to death though if I had that fluctuating brightness issue with no way to fix it. Especially considering I expect this to be my last tv purchase for a few years.
Also, in regards to the 3D, would I have to get the more expensive glasses or the cheaper ones? Do I have to get ones made specifically for the brand or is it just based on the technology the television uses?
Also, looks like I will be paying tax on that as well.Last edited by trobinson97; 04-20-2012, 01:58 PM.PS: You guys are great.

$1200 for 60" LG Plasma. http://www.amazon.com/LG-60PA6500-60...dp_ob_title_ce
With so many inexpensive streaming boxes, no need spending the extra coin on a "smart" tv. Always, go big.Comment

Going through paralysis by analysis. I wish I could find some video on the 60 inch.
**** it, I'm diving in. I'll have 30 days to see whether or not I like it.Last edited by trobinson97; 04-21-2012, 12:37 PM.PS: You guys are great.
