So I just sent Chad B. an email to see if I can get a calibration scheduled by him. I'm hoping he comes to the general Philly area. Would love to have this done by him. I've heard nothing but good things about his work.

I'd like to do the same, but he doesn't come anywhere near California. I'm sure there's someone of his caliber out here, though.

Setup my 70C8470u today and wow, it's like seeing TV for the first time. Add the Darbee and just listen for the sound of your jaw hit the floor. Plan to watch the Avengers in 3D tonight.

After it took a month for Costco to deliver my TV they finally offered me compensation in the form of $200 back on my card. So with the sale price plus my comp, thats $600 i saved on a 8740. Overall a great TV, but won't be dealing with Costco online again.

Honestly man both are quality tvs

Samsung and LG make great tvs

Can't go wrong with either one

So, sometimes you need to look at a couple things. Most Samsung's don't have game mode. A lot of Samsung's only have 2 hdmi slots.

                  LG all the way.

                    The Sammy is an LED.

The LG is an LCD but 2 inches bigger and 1 more HDMI input.

Based on track records, the Sammy "should" give a better picture.

Comes down to priorities....more important to have a thinner (10 lbs lighter) LED or have a "bigger" LCD.

Depending on how many devices you have...the HDMI inputs might be the deciding factor.

This is why I love OS..
Anyways, since they seem to be both great choices, I'm going to get the LG solely because all of the other tvs in the house are LGs. Thank you guys!

Good deal. Couldn't have gone wrong either way. I'm still enjoying the LG plasma I got 3 black fridays ago.

Yep... can't say you made a bad choice because you pretty much didn't

It was a win either way

LG and Panny are awesome. LG for LCD and Panny for PDP.

OKay I'm jumping in the fray! Couple of "doh" questions

Is a 55 inch 120hz LED good for gaming? Or should I be sticking with Plasma?

Can LCD EVER be good for gaming? Say if that LCD is 120hz?

Whats better for gaming 120hz LCD or 120hz LCD? Has the technology changed in the past two years for both in what we can buy now?

                              And Finally...

If You go any larger than an 50inch...Whats the best type of TV for gaming beyond that size so that motion blur isn't occurring? Again choice are between LCD LED and Plasma.

Most LCD's have a Game Mode, which helps tremendously with Input Lag. Usually within Game Mode all motion enhancement software is disabled by default.

Plasma's also have Game Modes, which do the same thing. If you like a brighter screen and don't want to do too much maintenance (Break-In, possible pixel shifting running after long gaming sessions, then LCD is your better option.

If you don't mind the stuff I mentioned than plasma is your choice. BTW the good thing is both LCD & Plasma now come in 55'
