Having an issue with the projector in the new house. The old owner has the component cables running through the wall up through the ceiling to the projector. I plug the corresponding cables into the projector and screen just continues to show "searching for signal". Anyone have any experience with projectors. I'm getting nervous because the direct tv guy is coming out tomorrow morning and am worried that he won't be able to hook my service up in the basement. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried hooking the PJ up to a blu ray or DVD source via a different set of component cables already? If so, did it work? If it did then it has to be the in wall cables.
Where is the DirecTV box going to be sitting? In the meantime you can just set the PJ up on a coffee table until you figure out what the problem is.
Do you have a 720P or 1080P Projector and does it have HDMI?
Good luck.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 09-28-2013, 01:26 AM.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
If it's wired correctly, there shouldn't be any issues. It's just a point A to point B sorta thing. How far of a run is it from the ceiling to the access point on the wall? Maybe the component cables are failing....
This could be the case, it is about a 12 foot run to get from the projector, which is mounted in the ceiling to the wall.

tried the Xbox, cable box, nothing. The direct tv guy finally shortened the run, we put the mini genie in the ceiling where the projector is mounted. Next I have to buy some velcro and velcro it to the PJ a it is just hanging now.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
From what I can see, that's not a possibility without a converter. (Does DirecTV not have a model of the genie that has standard RCA (red/white) audio jacks?) You'll need a Digital Audio to RCA converter box like this: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-D...=operasport-20
I have no idea on how well this particular one works, but you'll need something like it. Then you'll still need the cable below to get the sound to the projector.
http://www.amazon.com/Cable-feet-3-5...=operasport-20
So you're getting no picture from the component input on the projector? That gonna limit you to 480p best case scenario if you can only use composite or S-video.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 09-29-2013, 08:41 AM.Comment

I'm in St. Louis right now at a conference. Before I left I tried it out and still couldn't make head way. Called Best Buys Geek Squad and have a guy coming out to set it all up (xbox, Direct TV, Surround Sound, etc.) for me.Favorite Teams:

Ended up grabbing that one for $619 shipped 2 day from Newegg. I was looking at the viewsonic I posted earlier, but I kept on stopping myself, saw this deal for $50 off, and I had another coupon, I just didnt' think I'd find a better deal on a pretty good rated 1080p projector.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Ok guys, I know and i apologize that this has all been asked and answered 18 gazillion times but I'm now in the market for a new tv.
My budget? Upwards to 1500. My screen size 50-55". Plasma or LED. What I'll be using it for is mostly for watching sports, occasional gaming (have my gaming setup in the downstairs man cave area) and blu-rays/movies.
It's the living room but it's moderate lighting up there. My house faces North so sun never really is too much of an issue although there are skylights and bay windows. Never seems too bright though.
I've looked at Vizios, Panasonics, and Sammys but i've been out of the game for so long I'd really love some recommendations. 1080p is a must obviously. Ideally i'd love to spend under 1500 out the door.
Please help a brotha out!!! I mostly look at Cnet for reviews and stuff like that, so I'd probably go off this guide http://reviews.cnet.com/best-tvs/ if I don't get other ideas. Anyone know which are best off this guide? I'm a moderate videophile. I know not to buy Monster cables and waste money, I can tell if blacks are washed out, but i'm not going to totally nitpick everything. Having said that, i'd kick myself if I made a bad choice. Oh and viewing angle isn't huge, but ideally i'd like to see the tv from a 25 degree angle as well
Thank you!Last edited by Keirik; 10-04-2013, 12:02 AM.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Shop ABC Warehouse online and in-store for the best Appliances, TVs, Electronics, Furniture, and Mattresses at "The Closest Thing to Wholesale" Prices.
Got this one getting delivered to me tomorrow and then with the Best Buy guy, hopefully, able to get my projector squared away I should have my man cave with 3 tvs set up and ready to go.Favorite Teams:

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I'm rather indifferent to smart or 3d. I mean, Smart is nice and I suppose 3d is okay, but performance to me is the one thing that i'm really concerned about. I don't want too much input lag if i game on it and I watch a lot of hockey and football so blur would not be good at all.Comment
