I just got my delivery of the Curved 9000 from Samsung HU series

I am blown away at how awesome the pq is on this set.

Right now I am playing some Madden and it looks awesome.

it does up convert but channels like Fox which had the game today is native 720 and that looked a bit fuzzy but CBS had the other game and that is 1080 and it looked awesome

Activated Game Mode and it plays awesome and looks excellent with my settings

The curve does give the immersion of depth view. I am loving this tv

I will take pics and post it...Perhaps record in 4K with my note 4 and upload to YT

To me that's one thing I can't do is those curved TVs. Straight up gimmick IMO

I thought same thing at first but I dont even notice its curved on my wall. Besides if I want the top of the line in terms of PQ the curved is only option with Samsung.

There's only certain times I like the curved screens. Eventually, my 120" screen I have is going to be turned into a curved screen. If you have that large of a screen it makes sense. If you're viewing a 55" from 9 ft away, or a 65" from 12 ft away, the curve makes no difference to me. Also, we've had a lot of these tvs crack, even on display. It has to do with pressure on the screen from the curve. So, 90"+, curved is an option, lower than that, buy a flat panel Sony or Panasonic because they are top grade quality this year.

I did see a open box Samsung 64F8500 today at BBY for $2K. It was tempting but at this point in time I can't see myself buying an open box plasma considering the tech is no longer supported. I probably should of looked at getting a new TV set last year when both Panny and Samsung were exiting out of the plasma business and I could of had the 60"+ screen.

Blacks are of course awesome in plasma but resolution is better on LED...My Samsung Plasma F8500 in game mode has no bad input lag and I can rock any FPS game online easily

But gaming on the UHD from Samsung or Sony for that matter is breathtaking.

Plasma is dead now and nobody is going to make them even better since they are done
So last Sunday I bought the Sony Bravia W850B which had an issue out of the box so I had to drive 45 minutes away to get an exchange as there were no stores in my area with a replacement. For a week I had the new set and the more content I watched, especially moves that are letterbox with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio the right side of my screen looked to have issues where the blacks were bleeding so they were on the lighter side. The top right and bottom right of the screen where the black bars are at were rather light and not solid. Here were some pics of the issue:

The right side of the screen with my PC hooked up, had a bleeding issue from top of the screen to the bottom:

I returned the W850b earlier today and picked up the Sony XBR 55X850b. This set so far has a really impressive picture quality. It kind of sucks going from a 50" and being excited jumping to a 60" and the back down to a 55". I couldn't afford a 60-65" 4K TV without breaking the bank. In the end I can sacrifice screen size for picture quality and a panel with better uniformity. There is one small section to the left that has some light coming through very faintly so I'll see over next few days if it affects anything. So far I've tested 2 movies on this set and watching WWE RAW and not seeing the issues, imperfections, and dull like image that the other set produced (granted there are more pixels with this set). Can't wait to test my PC though, being able to now go to 2160p should be nice.

I was going to wait on the 4K set, and was very close to going with the Samsung 60H7150 instead which is no slouch of a TV @ 1080p and rivals most 4K sets out there. I am sold on what can be done with 4K, now only if we had more content to work with, but the upscaling is nice.

If a led tv has cloud issues in corners and what not just grab a micro cloth dry and message the tv screen in circular motions all over the screen and that improves the clouding....

                  To charge more for TVs.

There might be some science behind it. Your movie theater screen is curved slightly, but I believe that's so the picture coming off the projector is displayed without stretching.

I've read many tech sites say curve tv's are a gimmick and don't really enhance your viewing experience.

Your peripheral vision wouldn't even come into play until you are sitting 3 inches from the TV. In that scenario you would be missing out on content because you can't really tell what is going on in that part of your vision.

It looks great but bottom line is that if you want the best specs and performance you have to get the curved as they dont make it flat for the Sammy top of the line

The 8550 is flat and awesome but does not have the specs that the top of the line does Curve or not

Not really, if your tv is large enough and you sit close enough so the screen fills your vision then a curved TV would better fill peripheral vision.

And no its not 3"close either. I have a 67" HDTV, sit about 4 foot away, give or take, and the picture fills my entire field of view.

Problem is I never considered samsungs to be the best you can get to be honest. I had a Samsung before. Their TVs are usually terrible for gaming and I always felt Panasonics made better TVs with more accurate colors and deeper blacks.
