I'm really close on pulling the trigger on the 55" (that's what will fit in my space where I'm putting it).

Anyone have any concerns about the IPS vs. VA panel (the 55" is the only one with an IPS panel)? I have an LG that I absolutely love, and I think it has an IPS panel, but I keep reading about they are much worse than VA.

I know a lot is preference, and I like the better viewing angles of the IPS, but am I missing some big reason to not go with it?

The main differences between the 2 IMO are:

      Viewing angles
      Black Levels

The VA Panel will give you better blacks, but that great a viewing angle.

The IPS Panel gives you better viewing angles, not so great Black Levels

Just placed the order through Best Buy for the 55". It's due to be delivered on Saturday. Can't wait to try it out!

Did a ton of reading about it on AVS (probably too much) and it seems like although the blacks aren't as good as the VA panel, people said it wasn't a big enough difference to be disappointed with it.

I currently have a 55" TV and I'm trying to decide if an upgrade to 65" is worth it for the Vizio P Series. I think my 55" is a good size for me, but I also thought that about my 42" before I upgraded and now I can't imagine a 42". Is 65" worth the extra $800?

If you have the space, go for it.

I've got a 2007 42-inch LG LCD that's still going strong. The picture looks great, IMO, but I'm starting to think about upgrading to something bigger.

I'm looking at a couple of 55-inch LG UHD TVs. The 4K doesn't really come into play for me just yet, but if I'm going to buy now I might as well future-proof it. One of the two has the High Dynamic Range. Is that worth the extra $400 or so? It looked great at Best Buy, but the one without it was positioned above it so it was hard to compare the two.

Not much content with HDR, so it would be future proofing. If this is gonna be your last tv purchase for a long time it may be worth it. If you can move it to another room if/when you get the upgrade bug then save $400 now.

The cheaper one dropped another $100 in price today, so I pulled the trigger. I'm officially on the 4K train now.

I've been searching for a 4K TV since my mother asked me if I could help her choose one. After going through several local stores I found the Samsung JU7500 and the Sonys X850D and X930D as my final option, with the X930D being the one I'm inclined to. Does anyone have it and could give his opinion about that TV please? Thanks.

So not only do you need content for 4K but HDR as well?

Get the Vizio 2016 P series. According to many sites it's the 2nd best tv out so far behind the LG OLED which cost 3 times more. It supports doulby vision HDR and will soon update to support the HDR10. The tv has been selling out a lot at Best Buy.

Yes it has. I've never owned one and I'm planning on getting the 65 inch P series soon so I hope I don't regret my purchase.
