Cool, I'll take a look then as I check for a 55" 4k with HDR...might still be a year before I get a good one at a good price, but prices are dropping!

I'd highly recommend the 55H8C. It's a superb set. There's new things I find that I like about it every day.

The two negatives that I have, are

      1 - the remote control isn't backlit
2 - doesn't have a built in hulu app, and the app selection beyond the other major apps (Netflix, Amazon, vudu etc) isn't great. Hulu is the only one I care about but some others may want additional.

The picture and sound is great, superb for the price. The value is phenomenal. You can get it for $449 on buydig.com for the 55".

I'm usually pretty good with deciphering this stuff but after reading the link I'm about to post, I'm utterly confused...

That's the tv I have. In the ratings, it gives it a 7.0 for HDR movie watching, and 7.8 for HDR gaming. However, it doesn't have the wider colour gamut. Are they not one and the same? And if I hook up the PS4 Pro to this tv, what sort of HDR gaming am I actually getting?

Amazing...I'm figuring out financing (we just had twins) but this seems perfect and something I could probably swing, maybe around Super Bowl instead. I was figuring I'd need a giant tv, but going to this after a 42 (that I thought was 47 in my mind) would be fine.

I don't care about the remote (we use Xbox or Cable remotes) and we'd have Xbox plugged in for streaming (or get some other streaming box)...

I'll have to seriously consider this and keep an eye on sales for Vizio too...I think these are my 2 best options.

This is good for gaming for you? I figure if I get a HDR set now I'll be pretty ok for a decent period of time for a tv, and maybe consider Scorpio or upgrading to Xbox One S eventually.

Rtings.com doesn't think very highly of it. It also doesn't have wide colour gamut, so it won't be true HDR.

Decent for gaming...Blacks are greyish and input lag is in the mid 30's which is not bad at all but definately can do better for your price

I game in a dark room so I'm taking that into consideration. I don't like the con on this tv saying the blacks don't get black. That's the main thing I want that my current (old 2008) set doesn't do well and that is deep, dark blacks.

is viewing angle that big of a deal...one of our couches is to the side of the tv a bit...our current older Vizio 1080p tv is fine for what we need, and probably 45 degrees max off center....

Seems like all tvs lose a bit as you get off center anyways

If you're asking about the Hisense, I find the viewing angles are better than my Vizio was. Very minimal color degradation sitting almost nearly to the side. Straight on to 45°, I don't see any difference.

Was just in general (seeing that in the reviews people post on here)...

Figured something newer would probably be better anyways.

Gonna have to check out Best Buy and see some of these in action!

As a general rule, a curved TV will be worse with viewing angles than flat screens. But regardless of screen type, if you get a tv that's bad with viewing angles, it can get really really bad. If you have a couch off to the side, this should be high on your priority list, IMO.

Not sure if you have the Xbox One, but I used the fantastic calibration menu to setup my monitor and tv and then I just change the backlight throughout the day depending on if I'm playing during the day when it's bright in the room, or at night when its really dark.
