It usually is but not always. If you have a product people love and not enough of it is available the price will go up and continue to go up. Law of supply and demand. Just take a look at the Classic Nintendo Entertainment System that is sold out everywhere and going on ebay for a lot more than retail.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I see what you're saying, but I don't think a random TV model (one of hundreds on the market) is comparable to arguably the most successful, iconic video gaming console of all-time. Let's just say if everyone's still all over the same Samsung model TV 12 months from now, Samsung's R&D/Marketing divisions (and those of their competitors) should probably fire a lot of people for not continuing to innovate.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Excuse my ignorance, but does it matter what preset (Vivid, Sports, Game, etc.) you start from if you're configuring settings?
The dilemma I'm having with my LG is the HRD Standard looks really good but the HDR Game is too dingy. The backlight at 100 on Game is the equivalent of 50 on Standard. If I use HDR Standard but turn off all the processing and configure it the same as HDR Game, is there going to be much of a difference?Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
didn't know this, but looks like LGUH6150 is great for gaming and has a rating of 4k @ 60Hz + HDR 10.5 ms, that's really excellent if you ask me.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Edit: I should probably add that overall I'm really happy with it. It's not top tier, but it looks great to me. It's the fourth LG I've own and I've been happy with all of them.Last edited by LowerWolf; 04-18-2017, 08:55 PM.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I'm wondering what the awesome 500-600ish 4k HDR tv will be in 6 months or a year...Right now it's that Hisense 55" one....Will there be a Samsung dropping in that range eventually?Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
That's what I have. It looks great in HDR Standard mode, but not so good in HDR Game mode (see my post before yours). I'm still trying to troubleshoot it.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I did an unscientific test last night and took some BP on The Show, first in game mode and then in standard mode. Pitches I was pulling in game mode, I was a bit late on in standard. So definitely some input lag with standard.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Never. It will always be either Hisense or Westinghouse in that price range. Every once in a while Samsung will have a sale that drop their tv to $600 or $700, but you will never find one of their 55 inch 4K HDR TVs regularly priced that low.Comment

Yeah, if you want a Samsung, LG or Sony for that range you'd have to get a refurbished or store demonstration unit model.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I just always see Samsung 1080p tvs at Costco at that rate, so have to figure they'll have the low end 4k's at a cheaper rate at some point....Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
That point will be when they move beyond 4K to like 5K or something. 1080p tv didn't drop in price until 4K came out.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Look at tablets. iPads and the like are all awesome enough that you don't really need to replace it like you used to. You could probably have a killer 4k HDR tv for years and not need anything else. Obviously early adopters want the latest tech, but I'm talking more normal people.
I'm sure they'll get more OLED and technology like that, but I just don't know what the next big "push" will be towards.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
