Usually settings get blocked out like that if you are using a special viewing mode like game mode, sports mode, etc.

Watch this video here... KS8000 SETTINGS

...it will give you good settings to start with for regular tv watching. These are the settings I am currently using and I think they give me a great picture (standard mode).

Of course just be aware that not only might each set be slightly different but that we all will see things differently so once you do these settings, try them for a while and see what you think and adjust as needed.

I'd give myself some time to adjust to them though before messing with them.

Thanks Dogg..........slight improvement on the satellite broadcast but I'm really underwhelmed with the TV performance.

Can't really see any difference with any game on the Pro at the minute.......must be missing something?

Did you enable 4K/HDR on the input you're using the Pro on? I believe it's UHD Color or something to that extent. You have to turn that on.

As for cable looking good....The TV can only do so much if the source material is not in 4K. Watch a YouTube video or Netflix show in 4K and you'll be wowed. And if you happen to get a UHD player and some UHD Blu-ray movies...Good gawd.

Not buying until around Black Friday but right now the 65" KS9000 is top of my list followed by the 65" Sony 930E just depends on which is the better deal at the time.

I've read that the KS9000 is not worth the hefty extra price uptick (looks to be about $340 on Amazon right now) from the KS8000. Have you researched the differences? I think I also read the KS8000 is also actually brighter than the KS9000.

EDIT: nope, the KS9000 is slightly brighter. rtings.com still doesn't recommend it though and says the ks8000 is a much better value:

"The Samsung KS8000 is a better buy. It is almost as good as the KS9000 on all aspect, it just doesn't get as bright. The price difference is not worth it, so buy the cheaper KS8000."

Plus, if you plan on calibrating it's likely you don't reach anywhere near peak luminance anyway. I know that my plasma (which doesn't get nearly as bright as these sets, but holds its own pretty well) isn't even close to as bright as it can get through calibration, so ya'll should probably have nothing to worry about as well.

Anyway, if everything else measures relatively the same, I would agree on the KS8000 being the better option.

The KS8000 is still on my Amazon wishlist, just depends on the price difference during the holiday sales, but right now the 8000 is the better deal and if I was buying now I would get the 8000.

Yea around Black Friday is when you'll be wanting to buy the 9000. It'll be the better purchase by then. Besides, not sure how many old 8000s are gonna be sitting on shelves come BF.

KS9000 won't be around by then. That's a 2016 model, warehouses are already out of stock of those.

The KS models are the 2016 models. You won't find them on BFF, you'd be looking at the MU models.

Personally I'm wondering if the KS8000 will actually be one of those electronic products that people love so much, and seek out, that we will see the price go up on them the longer they are still available rather than vice versa.

I already see that Costcos price of the curved (KS850D) has gone up $200 since I bought mine about a month ago, although that may fall within normal fluctuation of prices I suppose.

Don't think so. Tech is always about what is new. Although the Samsung has found itself a cult following in this thread, I doubt the price will be higher 12 months from now. 12 months from now it'll be all about the 8K with ultraHDR.

It's a great TV and by far the best bang for your buck for 4k HDR gaming. I'm upgrading to a Sony 49 x900e only because of size. I want a VA panel and a 49" (the 43 x800d is a VA panel, the 49 x800d is an IPS panel). Otherwise I would have kept and been very happy with the 43 x800d. You should have no reservations. It's the best rated 43" 4k HDR tv.
