That was the other tv that I was looking at. Black Friday it 399.99. I was hoping that it would drop to that again for superbowl. It was that tv and the hisense that I have my eyes on

Only thing I'll say though is he got it at Best Buy for $499.99, as it was on sale last week. Looks like you missed out on a sweet deal for it, if so.

One other thing: Best Buy doesn't show it as featuring HDR, but supposedly it has it for HDMI 1. We will see about this.
Well I hear you on Bestbuy but all of my money is tied up at Amazon as that is where I traded in all my Nintendo stuff. So best case I can hope for is if it goes on sale like that its somewhere that Amazon will match it.

Yeah it has HDR or I wouldn't even be considering it, that's actually one of the main things I'm excited about with getting a new set is the HDR aspect.

Here is the ratings site for it:

The 4k Samsung KU6300 Series UHD LED TV doesn't have a stellar picture quality but is good enough for most content. It supports an HDR input, but it doesn't have...

I personally can't imagine just coming home with a 2000 tv, but that's just me....

We also have 3 kids and one income, so have to budget and figure out what our priorities are....If we were both working and no kids and lots of extra money it's a lot easier to just go get a TV....though in that case, if I had a good reason, my wife wouldn't care....She'd just start to care if I was getting new tvs all the time or whatnot, and I wouldn't blame her.

I also make her think about big purchases too, I'd be pissed if she came home with a 500 purse or something....

I think it's more just your situation...kids/houses and all that get crazy, plus having one income.

Thank you for posting because i was starting to think either I was just in a weird situation or else a lot of these guys on here are doing the macho "I ain't got to appeal to no woman, I do what I like!" type thing, LOL. Yes I guess it really is your situation, your monetary situation, how long you've been married, how much you communicate, and all sorts of other things.

Like I said, I try to pick my battles.

If it was up to Stefanie we'd be using a TV, Ipad, PC until they outright died, no matter how technologically outdated they became, but if it was up to me I'd be updating all the time. That's why I get her input, not just permission per se (LoL), because I think it's not too bad an idea to try to meet somewhere in the middle and she keeps me in check from being such a tech pig who wants to buy every new technology.

It's not a macho thing at all. My situation is different than mgoblue's. If I had one income and 3 kids, I wouldn't think about buying a oled unless my income was huge.

I have two incomes and one kid so it's easier to afford those things. With that said, I don't get the point of discussing it if you financially afford it and it's ur money. My wife is never going to understand the need for HDR and why I need to have a 4K tv. ****, most people don't understand that.

Same as I will never understand why a woman would buy a 500 purse. If my wife wanted to buy a $500 purse, I would have no input other than why do u need a $500 bag.

I'm the cheap one in my house lol....She has a Samsung Galaxy S7, I have a very old HTC One m7 because it still works fine...I got a refurb Mophie battery case for 10 bucks on amazon that's great....

I'd love a new phone, but don't need it and it's added money per month. Our current tv is a 1080p Vizio that's like 5ish years old, so I'm not bad. We just also have to go to a wedding back east in August, medical bills from the twins being early, etc....No longer have the luxuries when I was single lol

Yes, I have found that to definitely be the case, LOL. We've been together for 5 years now and married for 2 years (7 years total) so we are still "new" in the sense of how to manage finances and in that sense I endeavor to keep things good.

Yeah, its funny you say that because if you look back in this thread you will see that i mentioned "planting the seed" and really have been sort of planning this for like 3 months now give or take. I do think you wear them down, LOL.

And yeah, the way I did it was to trade in a bunch of stuff (Wii, Wii U, etc) to get about $300 Amazon credit so now I am trying to get about a $500-700 tv and will only end up spending anywhere from $200-400 so that's not too bad.

My plan to get my gaming tv in my man cave, the KS8000, is to just use my tax refund. That seems to be the one thing she views as "do whatever you like with money". She spent $3000 on French doors for our back patio with her return (I would have spent about $600-700 on a "regular" door) but she was like "well it's for the house".

Well a TV is for the house too! at least the living room one is anyways, LOL

Oh you can bet I always bring up her monthly trips to Ulta (the makeup store) where she spends about $200-300 at times.

oh and...btw, we can afford it but that doesn't mean she can't see it as "shaun spending $600 on a tv that looks the same as the old one whereas we still need (fill in the blank here) for the house).

I mean we have money but we're not super rich...even then if we were super rich I do tend to think she'd still complain, she just views a 4K tv as something that's sorta dumb, not much difference at all from the "perfectly fine TV we have now"...

The funny thing is in this whole deal is that she does all she can to talk me out of new technology purchases but almost always loves using them.

For example I bought an iPad and she complained a bit but ended up always "borrowing mine" so when i went to upgrade my iPad she objected, but then I just told her I was going to buy her one as there was a "deal at Apple" and maybe there was, maybe there wasn't, can't really recall.

Anyways, I bought her an iPad too along with my new one and every since then she has used hers like every single day to watch movies, play games, etc.

Usually I have found that my best way to get her to be ok with things is to find a really, really good deal, or trade-in or sell something I already own to help mitigate the upfront cost.

I think if she thinks I'm getting a good deal and/or getting rid of some stuff that is older and getting credit, then it makes her feel a lot less "wasteful".

For example when I badly wanted an Xbox One when it was about to launch I packaged up my Xbox 360 and about 70 games and sold it on craigslist for $350 or such and paid very little for a launch day Xbox One.

Easier for her to see me actually trying perhaps? I don't know but that is what works, and really it probably would make sense for me to try to do that even if I were completely single to be honest..

A couple of questions for you TV nerds on here (and I say that with the utmost respect and admiration of course!)

                              1. Will wide color gamut really make much difference for gaming?

I ask because I remember reading about the new Gran Turismo Sport on PS4 Pro and how it will finally be able to show the true reds of Ferrari and Lamborghini cars..but not sure if that is related to wide color gamut or just, in general, a new 4K tv? Or maybe it was HDR?

                              2. Is pursuing a wide color gamut tv worth the money at this point for just overall 'future proofing' a tv for all around use?

A TV's color gamut defines the number of colors, or the range of colors, it can display. It's important to have a TV that displays a wide range of colors as needed.
