Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I know what aholbert32 is talking about. I noticed crushed blacks with the KS8000 while watching a non-HD movie on DirectTV. I had everything setup perfectly for gaming, watching movies on the TV's apps and sports. However, I started watching a movie that wasn't in HD and the night time scenes had crushed blacks.
It doesn't really affect me though because my KS8000 is my gaming TV and have a second TV to watch while I game. I didn't even my prior gaming TV hooked up to DirectTV at all but wanted to see what sports would look like on my new TV, so I hooked it up with a splitter. I had my second TV (a cheap 32-inch Emerson LED) playing at the same time and the night time scenes looked better on it. I rarely watch movies in there anyway, but as long as I watch movies in HD it won't be a problem.
I loved the TV and I love how it looks in 4K with HDR but I couldnt justify paying as much as I did for a TV that I cant use to watch older films. With that said, it was likely a bad set and not indicative of the KS8000 line.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
55' I cant go any bigger than that with my current set up. I have two smaller TVs mounted on each side of the TV and going any bigger would force me to reinstall the mounts for the smaller TVs.

I can't do anything less than 65. This is another thing I hate because OLEDS are too expensive especially at that size. It's practically double the price for 10 more inches and to me that's insane. I'll probably wait until the 2017 models to see how they do with the ABL issues on the 2016 models and to see if they fixed that. I honestly never had an black crush issues on my ks8000. I also calibrated my tv using the Disney world of wonders blu ray disk. How are you enjoying your OLED so far?

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
So the HiSense 65" H8C is $742 on Amazon...hmmm.only about $242 more for a much larger tv..
Guys, what is the scoop on the HiSense 65" H8C? is it the same exact tv as the highly recommended H8C 50" and 55" models or is there any differences I should be aware of?
Depends on my money situation but for that difference (about $240) I may just go with the big boy..
EDIT: Sorry, the 65" is not H8C, it is 65CU6200 instead... good?N.Y Mets
N.Y Giants
N.Y Knicks

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
They don't...Amazon suggested the 65" and that's what I thought it was but I edited my post to show the correct model for the 65" Hisense

2 days in and I love it. I love that I'm pretty happy with the set based solely off of using Rtings's calibration settings. I found myself tweaking the KS8000 alot just to get it right.
Dont get me wrong. I dont want it to appear like I'm ****ting on the KS8000. I think its an amazing set and the best set in the 1k-1.5k price range. I was originally planning just to exchange it for a new one. The only reason I went with the LG OLED was because I had a 200 dollar gift card at HHGregg which put the C6 in the 1700 dollar range.Last edited by aholbert32; 01-12-2017, 03:48 PM.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Ok, well that is cool. Funny (ironic) not through the tv app.
Well after I sell my Wii U and two Wiis to Amazon I'll have a new gift card for $277. Combine that with the $200 in gift cards my mother-in-law got me for Christmas and I'll have $477 to spend.
Which is nearly enough to buy the Hisense 55" H8C which is like $499-$599 on Amazon depending upon if you catch it on sale.
So I broached this with the wife last night and wow did she get pretty upset. "We have bills to pay! Our tv is fine! Why would you go spend a bunch of money on a new TV that is basically the same as what we have??"
I see her point in one respect, we do have a lot of bills to pay. But this is very little money coming out of our pockets to pay since I have all the gift cards (would be about $100 give or take).
I dropped it after a bit but will have to continue to wear her down I guess. Sort of reminds me of A Christmas Story with him asking everyone and trying to wear everyone down, LOL.
Any advice fellas?
Advice yes.
Tell her thanks for sharing and get the TV anyways. Tell here you are not 3rd world citizens. At the end of the day do what you want. if she gets upset over a relatively inexpensive investment in an electronic device that is on her.
PS. Don't even bring it up again. You are a grown *** man.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I cant speak on the Sony because I've never seen it. It really depends on if money and size matter to you. If everything is equal, I would go with the C6. If size and cost matter, I'd go with the KS8000.Comment
