So I took my KS8000 back to best buy after owning it for almost two months (thank god for their holiday 60 day return policy). I liked the TV alot but I ran into two issues: One, the TV was randomly turning off. I think it was a settings issue but that concerned me.

Two, I was having a crushed blacks issue that I couldnt fix. Part of it could be because many of my movies are old but I tried every setting I could find and it didnt help much. It was frustrating me that my movies looked better on my other older and cheaper Samsung 4k TV.

So I took it back and went with the LG OLED C6. I'll let you guys know how it looks. I like that its curved and it does 3D (I have about 20 3D movies) so hopefully this is my TV for a long time.

Considering LG is ditching 3D on their 2017 OLED's, it's probably a good thing you went for that one. I know I always want to have at least one 3D-ready TV in my household.

I'd like to hear how you like the OLED experience, though! You should come away pretty impressed. Just make sure you update the firmware on it.

That's interesting. In all my time in the ks8000 thread on AVSforum with thousands of responses from many different members this is the first time I hear about your black crush issue. Given that your tv was randomly turning off you had a bad set and I'm sure that had to do with you black crush. I'd like to hear your take on your new OLED. Until the LG OLED don't fix the ABL issues I wouldn't touch OLED yet.. I'm sure all the 2017 LG models will come out soon. Hopefully the ABL issues have been fixed.

Samsung randomly turning off is a bad unit...I had that issue, called Samsung and they came out and replaced the motherboard to fix it. I have never had that issue any more on that set; and I have had it for years (and am, in fact, still using it today) since.

Anyone that has a Samsung that randomly turns off should turn it for another, not give up on the set. At least that's my opinion.

Yep. I think it was a defective TV because I searched damn near every forum I could and couldnt find anyone who was complaining about it. One other issue was related solely to my setup. I have a Sonos Playbar and there is an audio dropout issue with Dolby Digital, Sonos and Samsung TVs. Still if I dont like this OLED, I'll go back to the KS8000 in a minute and give it another shot because I liked everything else about it.

With that said, after 1 night I love the C6. Easy to setup. No picture or sound issues at all. It has regular HDR and Dolby Vision HDR (Uses Dolby Vision for Netflix 4K). The 3d is great and now I can continue to collect 3D movies. Youtube in 4k looked incredible. No input lag issues when gaming in HDR now with the most recent update. I wasnt happy about the cost (I've never paid more than 1k for a TV) but I think this is going to be my TV for a while.

Is 3D dead as of 2017, or is it still alive in projectors? Is 4K 3D ever going to be a possibility or will the technology be gone until it can be done without glasses?

3D IMO is still alive in projectors, I love watching 3D movie in my home theater. As of right now, there is no 4K 3D, I guess it's possible though.

I just looked at the LG C6, looks great, except for the price. I just can't afford that (unless I want to wait forever and a day, LOL)

I know what aholbert32 is talking about. I noticed crushed blacks with the KS8000 while watching a non-HD movie on DirectTV. I had everything setup perfectly for gaming, watching movies on the TV's apps and sports. However, I started watching a movie that wasn't in HD and the night time scenes had crushed blacks.

It doesn't really affect me though because my KS8000 is my gaming TV and have a second TV to watch while I game. I didn't even my prior gaming TV hooked up to DirectTV at all but wanted to see what sports would look like on my new TV, so I hooked it up with a splitter. I had my second TV (a cheap 32-inch Emerson LED) playing at the same time and the night time scenes looked better on it. I rarely watch movies in there anyway, but as long as I watch movies in HD it won't be a problem.

here's what one guy said in AVS forums he did to alleviate crushed blacks on xbox one

I posted this on the Forza HDR thread but I'll put it here in case someone here has this problem.

I believe I found a fix for the Samsung KS models having washed out colors and a dim picture in HDR mode when playing Xbox One S games.

*I'm going to assume you have everything enabled that you should (UHD Color,Smart LED High, etc).

*Go into the xbox one settings and disable HDR.

*Then power off your xbox one (hold the power on the unit for a few seconds).

*Wait for it to shut down fully then turn it back on.

*Go back into settings and enable HDR.

                              *Launch your game

That did it for me. I could tell immediately when Forza launched that it was working. Before, when I launched the game I could see the picture dim noticeably than the the dashboard and the colors having a faded look. No matter what settings I changed I could not get the colors to pop or the screen from dimming. This worked though,I'm guessing the setting didn't 'take' when I first turned it on.

Hope this helps, took me about 3 hours googling and trying different combinations but I'm glad I finally got it,looks amazing now!

So the HiSense 65" H8C is $742 on Amazon...hmmm.only about $242 more for a much larger tv..

Guys, what is the scoop on the HiSense 65" H8C? is it the same exact tv as the highly recommended H8C 50" and 55" models or is there any differences I should be aware of?

Depends on my money situation but for that difference (about $240) I may just go with the big boy..

EDIT: Sorry, the 65" is not H8C, it is 65CU6200 instead... good?
