Not in my house. We have a 4k TV in our living room where we do most of the TV watching but my OLED is in my man cave. Thats where I have all of my consoles and streaming devices. My wife doesnt spend that much time there.

Like you said as long as the mortgage, car and bills are paid there's no reason why your wife should be getting upset or you with her on anything you guys buy....
My wife just shakes her head. She did it last week when she saw me lugging the LG C6 up the stairs. As long as the bills are paid and we puts some money aside for savings, there shouldnt be a discussion about what I do with my money.

I make sure the bills are paid each month but I dont want her getting upset because I spent a lot of money on a TV just like I'm sure she doesnt want me getting upset about her spending a lot of money on some shoes or a purse.

We have a joint account, but if we can afford it, I don't question her purchases and she doesn't question mine. One life to live.

For example, 65" 8500 is sure looking nice downstairs! We've been working on our family room area and she likes how the TV looks. Just need to finish the rest of the room.

My bank account is separate but one tends to notice a huge, different tv being mounted in the living room LOL.

Like I said, there's a huge difference from spending $500-650 versus $1700, at least here at my house.

I would love to be in your shoes but we discuss major purchases (like a 4K TV) together. I suppose I could just buy what I like and spend a ton of money on a new TV, and I will for my man cave, but for the living room I'm fine with compromise on a budget TV like the H8C.

I can sort of see her point that we have a good bit of things to spend money on and there's no need to spend $1,600 for a superb Samsung KS8000 when I can get an H8C for $500-600.

However, I will not compromise though when I buy "my" tv for my man cave but that's a ways down the road. And hell, by then the KS8000 will probably be a good bit cheaper..

            Anyways, I pick my battles

Ah see thats different. If $1700 is out of your price range, you shouldnt even be considering that sort of purchase period. What you were talking about was your wife being upset about the new TV.

If you have separate bank accounts where the money is coming out of your end and you can afford the $1700, I dont see what the issue is. ****, how would she even know what it costs? I couldve bought at 55' midlevel LG HDTV for $700 and my wife wouldnt be able to difference between that and the $1700 LG OLED. Just like I have no idea how much a new pair of shoes costs or a purse is when she buys one.

With that said, you know your wife better than anyone so if that purchase would cause an issue in the house...you are making the right decision. I just would be unbelievably frustrated if I couldnt buy what I want solely because my wife thinks its too much. Especially when are bills are paid and we have money saved.

Bro, I get holiday checks twice a year both of a really nice amount and my wife doesn't know and I don't tell her either lol. I'm not saying to lie to them but they don't need to know everything. My wife is real cool and doesn't get on me about any of my purchases. I got a brand new luxury sports car last year even though we have a 5 year old boy and she was pregnant with my second son at the time lol. It wasn't the most practical car but she knew I wanted the car and I spoke to her about it once and she was cool about it. Like aholbert32 she just shakes her head or laughs. I have 8 years married and in 3 months 11 years with her in total.

I edited my post so I don't know if you still think it's good advice lmao. I'll honestly say that I told my wife I was buying the Samsung 65ks0000 and her response was "what's wrong with the tv in the living room" typical response you'd get from the wife but I told her it was time for an upgrade and she was cool.

I'm almost 4 yrs in and we've been living together for almost 6. It really just comes down to how financially comfortable you are. If you guys dont own things like a house or cars and/or you guys arent saving for something big, I dont see an issue with it.

I'm also the type that likes to address things up front so if it takes an argument for her to understand that there is nothing wrong with that approach than I'm fine with having it. Like I said it works both ways. I dont want to be upset when I see my wife by something simply because she objected to me buying a YV.

We have a joint account for bills as well as separate accounts for our spending each month. Money spent from separate account gets no questions. I don't care what she buys, she doesn't care what I buy.

So what do you guys think of this TV...Samsung UN55KU6300?

I ask because I may not be able to get the H8C through Amazon if it's sold out (as it has been for awhile) so I need a backup plan and this appears to be not much more money and about the same on the ratings.com website..

My friend is getting it shipped to him tomorrow. I may see him this weekend, and tell you what I think of it.

Only thing I'll say though is he got it at Best Buy for $499.99, as it was on sale last week. Looks like you missed out on a sweet deal for it, if so.

One other thing: Best Buy doesn't show it as featuring HDR, but supposedly it has it for HDMI 1. We will see about this.
