Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread

I took delivery on the 65 KS8000 yesterday afternoon from Amazon, and I had to refuse it. There was a half inch opening and crack on the bottom of the unit, on the other side of the bezel. What a bummer that was. Replacement scheduled for Wednesday morning.
We found it as I was telling the delivery guy about the separation some people had mentioned online...

Any others had damaged units delivered? I wonder what the damage rate is on these? For as thin as this display is, it has to be difficult to keep them from getting damaged, and keeping shipping and packaging costs in line.

The crazy thing is they dish by screw the unit together they glued it so some people have that issue.

No idea why they glued it

I would love to upgrade but having a hard time letting go of my 2007 Panasonic plasma. The tv has been flawless. I know if I upgraded I would realize dramatic visual gains.

I felt the same. Replacing my 2010 Panasonic S-series plasma. I'm hoping to see improvements. The other display we have is a 2013 Sharp LC-60LE650, and I much prefer the plasma for gaming, tv, movies, etc.

            Well poop.

I had everything in the order ready to go and do the Best Buy financing application. Apparently they need more time to process my application and they'll mail me within 2 weeks.

            So much for that.

I'm with you. I have always been partial to plasmas over LEDs. I have an 07 panny plasma pz700u that has been a fantastic tv for 9 years with no issues. I recently purchased the samsung ks8000 and it is def a nice set, but I still preferred my plasma for sports, movies, and gaming.

I also had an annoying issue where the ks8000 would just have intermittent judders/stutters every 1 or 2 minutes while watching tv and movies and I tried to do everything I could to correct it, but I read online that this is a common issue with this TV. And NYGiants4Fanactic also indicated he had the same issue.

The 4k on the set was a definite upgrade over my 1080p plasma for resolution. But my plasma won out over the ks8000 in everything else, so I returned the ks8000. I am gaming on my plasma and a 4k monitor (to get my 4k fix). I am going to wait until next fall to check out new tvs and consider another 4k set. OLED is also another consideration for next year, but the input lag has been all over the place so far on these sets. I am bummed that plasmas are gone because having a 4k plasma would have been incredible.

I have a Panasonic VT60. I don't plan on upgading until OLED is lower in price and 4K UHD blu rays can be had for $6 used like blu rays can be. Even if it can upscale I'm not sure I'd be able to tell enough difference to justify dumping a $2,000 TV.

A client at work had a monitor delivered in a demolished box....she refused it and the delivery guy told her to...he said "I didn't load my truck, so not sure what happened" lol

Finn that LG B6 is a beautiful TV. The PQ is stunning. I'm staring to get that itch and the B6 is definitely ready to scratch it for me.

The only thing that might hold me back is the ABL issue (Auto Brightness Limiter) where there's a slight delay when going from black to a bright screen.

I'm somewhat use to it as my bedroom Samsung Plasma has that minor issue, but not sure how OLED handles that issue

It'd be the first time if that's the case.

Does Synchrony still handle Best Buy's internal financing? I have the Visa, but it is a Citi card. For whatever reason, Synchrony hates me.

I believe Synchrony handles the Best Buy store card and Citi handles the Best Buy Visa card. Two different banks. Synchrony handles most store cards in reality.
