Finally ordered mine, went with a 75 q9fn & q8fn. Samsung sale ended yesterday and they are guaranteeing the price won't be lower on Black Friday.

What are your game mode HDR settings? It seems to dim in many cases unless contrast enhancer is turned on.

This is due to Dynamic Tone Mapping that is available in game mode this year.

That improves the brightness big time and Madden 19 in my test game of Giants at Eagles night game where in my B7a the game is unplayable due to the dim screen. Funny thing is that most games look great on the b7a in HDR game mode due to either the devs not injecting 4000 nits into the game or having the hdr sliders like COD WW2

But Madden injects 4000 nits and that is why in OLED and even LED tvs the brightness suffers in Madden.

With the LG C8 and this years LG models of OLED they activated Tone Mapping in HDR which you can toggle on or off and it fixes the dim issues in that Giants at Eagles night game. It looks stunning now

The B7a and last years models do not have tone mapping in HDR game mode but you can buy HD Fury to inject a proper nit level to games so that the OLED dim screen in game hdr is fixed but that is another 400 dollars being spend on Fury

C8 is stunning and I am now looking to sell my b7a and get the c8

To bad RTINGS claims HDR game mode has input lag of 29ms compared to SDR in 21ms

But other sites report it is 21ms for both sdr and hdr.

Maybe RTINGS had a bug in their test?

One thing that fixed the problem for me a little is going into the settings and setting color gamut to wide. It was on auto but for some reason it doesn’t automatically switch to wide with HDR. Try this. It helped dramatically. Before it was on automatic and the colors and everything looked dull.

Also, it’s very hard for me to go back to LED/LCD. OLED just looks SO much better. It’s night and day. The pure blacks makes everything look spectacular. I’ll wait for Black Friday to get the C8 for the living room.

OLED is great but to me the B7 and all OELD from last year are terrible for gaming and is the fault of games but it is what it is. Changing to WIDE defeats the purpose of proper HDR color space. Auto is the best as it gives you accurate colors. Dull as it may seem to you. they are accurate colors

WIde is just like throwing a bucket of paint on the colors. Not for me

For gaming on the X, the QLED is far and away superior

              Lower input lag

              Free Synch support

Game Motion settings to interpolate 30fps games to look 60fps

              BRIGHTER which is awesome

My OLED is awesome for movies and sports but I rather game on the Q8FN

Yeah that’s what I’ve been reading about qled vs oled. Found out my future mother in law has a friend working for Samsung and I can get a good discount for a qled. But I’ll stick to what I bought already, since I have the lg uk850 gaming monitor for consoles and the oled will be for Netflix and other 4K content and will game on it every once awhile.

Again, I repeat, auto seems to be broken on this tv for gaming. I know what an accurate picture looks like. I’m not the one to overly saturate colors. When your tv uses HDR the color spectrum becomes wider and the tv is exposed to more colors hence why it’s called wide color gamut. Try madden and see what I’m taking about before you shoot it down. On auto in game mode it looks extremely dull to the point where it looks bad. When you switch to wide the colors look correct when gaming in HDR. It doesn’t look saturated it looks correct. I found this on a forum with people taking about it and I believe it’s correct.

Also, highly disagree with OLED not being great for gaming. Some of the most mind blowing pictures I’ve seen have been on this tv with HDR gaming. Nit brightness is only one component to a good HDR picture.

The Auto color space on my B7 in HDR game mode looks correct and is how colors are to look. It is not broken but what is broken is the fact that LG decided it was smart to lock Auto from SDR game mode and leaves it at WIDE which oversaturates colors.

LG OLED is fine for gaming but is not the same as QLED as it offers no free sync, no game motion to compensate for 30fps games. And the brightness is a huge issue for games that master their games in 10k nits of brightness.

Go put on Shadow of the Tomb Raider and max the slider for HDR lumincance and you can still see the image. It is suppose to go away. On my QLED it goes away half way up the slider.

Yes blacks and contrast are unmatched but for gaming the QLED is king

                    Everything else OLED rules

I dont have to try because believe me that I tried everything to get madden to look even respectable on the B7A. Wide or Auto is not going to make the brightness better. The B7 or C7 or E7 are not good for gaming and is not the fault of the tv. It is the devs for injecting super high nits. The C8 fixes a lot of that with dynamic tone mapping which the B7A and C7 do not have unless you are out of game mode

It looks far superior on the C8

I love my OLED but I would never game on it over the QLED

OLED over LCD all day any day. Though QLED is another thing entirely. Wish I had the money for that.

Take a look at a price tracking website and look at last year's model to get a good idea on how much it will go down. Usually the top of the line models don't go on sale less than they have previously been on sale. You may be able to get a bundle deal though.
