Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
As far as gaming, 60Hhz vs 120hz really doesn't factor only see games run at 60FPS, and 120hz really sins doing anything for gaming.
The TCL 6 series is a beautiful TV and for $499 its a steal with all its bells and whites and picture quality.Last edited by RoyalBoyle78; 12-18-2018, 01:37 PM.N.Y Mets

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I just got this set last week, I have uniformity issues at all, and the only way the 60hz will mean anything is when watching sports, and honest all my TV have been 60hz and I see no difference, all sports look still great to me.

If you look around you'll find that panel uniformity issues and banding can be an issue. And if you have a One X you can get free sync, so it does something for gaming. If you see no difference in sports, then by all means keep what you have. Some people can tell, some can't.

The only Samsungs that top the TCL are the QLED 8 and 9 series which cost double and triple the priceComment

There is less judder and smoother panning.
In games 120hz does not mean that consoles wont benefit because they do 60fps or 30fps
A game running on a 60hz panel compared to a 120hz panel would not look as smooth as 120hz.
120hz reduces input lag further and reduces judder in low fps gamesComment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Understood, but its like any TV, some of the panels can have those issues. I don't have any issues banding or uniformity thank god, but If I did I would return it of course. I bought a 3 year warranty for my T.V From P.C Richards and son when bought it last week. I own the X and yes free sync is nice, but it not offered for all Tv's. Plus if I'm not mistaken freesync on the X can't be played while in 4K, you have to use a lower res for it to work correctly, in that case its a nice feature but not a must have, well for me at least.
The Samsung tvs from NU8000 and up all have that feature and in 4K you get free sync range from 48-60fps and in 1080p mode you get from 20fps to 120fps
If you run a game like COD BO4 in 1080p on the x with free sync it does work beaitufilly and offers input lag in the 6ms range. And the fact that the game super samples means it looks better than a 1080p image.
in 4k the game has to be between 48 to 60fps and it will work and reduces the input lag to just 15msComment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I still love our 55" TCL 2017 model with 120Hz and the best HDR I'd be getting....still not really using HDR sources yet, but as a living room tv it's been great.
Not in the cards yet to get a Xbox S or X quite yet....might just wait until next gen, I don't know.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
