I’d do the C8 if you could, having that better processor is important IMO.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Went to Best Buy and Costco this past weekend to check out their selection of tvs. We have an older model 55" Vizio in our family room that is too small and too dim for the room. It's been bothering me the past few months when watching hockey and college basketball. Not to mention having to go to the basement to watch a movie on the 65" Samsung.

So, I was almost sold on the LG OLEDs. They look absolutely amazing, but not $1800-$2000 amazing. I simply cannot justify paying over a $1000 for a new tv anymore, nor financing one. I wasn't initially impressed with the TCL 6 series nor the Vizio P series, so I headed home.

Giving it some more thought and reading more reviews on both, I decided on the Vizio P series 65" from Costco. I've had a lot of luck with Vizios in the past, and this was in the price range ($900) I could afford. Thus far, I'm very impressed with the picture and brightness. The only draw back is that it seems to reflect more sunlight than I would wish. But, wow does it look nice at night. I would say it's just about on par with my Samsung KS8000, and actually might look better when it comes to black scenes.

The B8 came close to $1,000 last week, then shot back up to $1,600. That's got me on a potential old-man rant.

I honestly don't see much of a noticeable difference between most of these TVs other than color settings. I do wish I could demo every set with FIFA because the motion blur on a goalie kick to midfield is where I notice a difference. lol
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!

I remember years ago when the 55 inch Phillips, Element 1080p LCD was $2,000. The Sony, Samsung and LG were $2,600. Also remember when the 70 inch Sharp was $3,500. That was just 12 or 13 years ago.

As long as the supply is still there, it should drop again. One thing to look at is if your credit card offers a price match for 60 days. Citi offers it, but a lot have gotten rid of it.

lol Crazy isn't it. Before I got the Samsung ks8000 55 inch tv back in late 2016 I was using a Sony 37 inch 720p TV that could upscale to 1080 and I got it in 2007 and it cost 700 on sale but was normally at 1000 now you can get that kind of TV for like 200 lol.

Very happy with my new 65 inch samsung q9fn.
The full array backlight is a big improvement over my old samsung edge lit version.
The blacks are much deeper and the colors are gorgeous (after putting the backlighting a bit lower, it was too damn bright).

I'm sure it cannot beat an oled, but i'm still very happy with it.

Been playing mlb the show a lot and with hdr on it looks (and plays) amazing.

How old is your old Samsung? I have a 2013 model.

These companies play so many games, I feel like the image quality debate is moot.

I'm just going to get whatever is the cheapest at the end of the month. Maybe even still consider the Sony X900F.
Just bought my Sony X900F few weeks ago and love this TV!!

Lol I was going to say the same thing. OLEDs picture quality easily destroys LCD/LED and it also has the potential for burn in. I also owned a plasma in the past and never got any burn in.

I love my LG C8 but hate the paranoia when someone else uses it like my nephews. One of them is an artist and loves pausing a movie so he can draw it out. It’s awesome that he does that but I’m sweating bullets looking at my watch

Don't really have to worry about burn in anymore. On the B6/C6 it was really bad.
