Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I have HDMI from DTV client to the TV.
HDMI (ARC) from the TV to my Soundbar.
With your TV, if the amp doesn't offer control, the TV should allow you to control the volume.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Last Sunday I bought the c8 65.. love it so far. What are everyone's thoughts on a square trade warranty? I'm debating it, but is $200 for 3 years worth it?
I've never bought an extended warranty.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
They weren't good for the tablet warranty and I had to fight with India and finally got a person in US corporate office. Then I was able to get it resolved and they sent me a check to replace the item.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
You can control the volume on the TV or DTV with the remote but not both. If you are using digital then you can't really do anything. Here is what I did for my tv.
I have HDMI from DTV client to the TV.
HDMI (ARC) from the TV to my Soundbar.
With your TV, if the amp doesn't offer control, the TV should allow you to control the volume.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
The amps I am looking at have a knob control, but we'd want to be able to do volume with a remote. I guess I am still confused on what exactly would work.

Go to the product page on crutchfield and click in get expert help. They are really good and will help you get everything you need. I had them review my surround sound setup plans when I was building my house and they do it for free.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
You should be fine on the non digital side of it, but I'm not sure on the digital outside if the TV can turn up the volume.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I did that and they agreed. It probably wouldn't work. I think I am just going to get more traditional amp - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_158STD...190.html?cc=07
I don't have a TV outside, but I'm putting 2 speakers and hooking them up to a Sonus Connect Amp. The Amp will be fed from my AVR, so I can play the TV sound outside or stream music. If you use a Soundbar, you can use the remote to control volume. If you use a Connect Amp to control the speakers, you can use a phone, voice, some remotes to control the Amp volume.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I thought of that, but if they did that they'd be giving up getting sound out to their pool. I'm sure it could get loud enough, but at that point I think the audio quality would be pretty poor even for their ears which aren't expecting a whole lot.
A Sonos product would be great, but I'd never be able to explain to them how the cost is worth it.Comment
