Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
One of the most underrated aspects of the TV is the upscaling. Sports look so good, and with the native 120hz it never judder's.
While the blacks aren't as good as OLED, the local dimming makes them look great. It also gets pretty bright, so HDR is good. Games like Madden, and NBA 2K, really shine in HDR.
While it doesn't have freesync or ridiculously low input lag, I have never had a single issue I can attribute to that. I believe 4K HDR in game mode is about 20ms. Which for non-competitive gaming like fighting games, is more than fine.
Basically, you can count on Scott's suggestions. So any of those TV's are great.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I’m upgrading my 65ks8000 to a LG 65C9 OLED. I’ve had an OLED in the bedroom for 2 years and haven’t had any issues or burn-in. I also owned plasmas in the past and never no burn-in. Burn in is over blown sometimes and you should be fine. Rtings ran OLEDs for a year playing the same content 20 hours a day and didn’t get burn-in.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I have a 55" LG C7 and unfortunately I have some burn-in. I have no idea where it came from considering I babied the TV and it doesn't match anything that I ever have on my screen. Thankfully it is only noticeable on certain backgrounds so I got used to it. Are the new sets brighter than the C7s? That really has been my only complaint about the TV since I purchased it.
Definitely are brighter

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Crazy I was the original thread starter many moons ago. So awesome to see this thread continue to thrive.
75" X900F vs. X950G
I'm currently trying to decide on a new set. We moved to a new house back in July, and we currently have a 65" X850B that I bought about 4 years ago. It was obviously Sony's mid-tier Bravia at the time with 4K, but a year out before HDR. Now that we have a bit more space in our living room area, I ultimately wish we could go with an 85" but the prices are a bit more than what we want to spend.
I have been looking at both the 75" X900F and the X950G, really love the picture quality of the Bravia's especially our current set still has a really nice image. The current 65" will be getting moved into our basement for when the kids have their friends and cousins over.
I've extensively looked at both X900F and X950G threads at AVS, some like the X900F better than 950G better and vice versa. We currently have our cable box, Sony 4K BD, PS4, X1X, Switch, and gaming PC hooked up to the current setup which will be the same with which ever set we decide on.
I did check out the 75” Q80R and I wasn’t as impressed with some aspects of the 950G.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I have heard some people say that burn in is over blown but when i look at Rtings like ever OLED on the negative parts says something about burn in and i already tend to have bad luck with tech. If i got one with my luck i would most likely get burn in and fast.
Get it from Best Buy and get the warranty then. We’re the only ones who cover burn in.

In my professional opinion Q90>Q80>950G>900F. If you have a Magnolia, check out both TVs there. In the regular Best Buy store, they’re all on vivid or dynamic more.

The Samsung also supports freesnyc, so that should allow you to game without any tearing.

HDTVtest ran the new C9 OLEDs for 6 months straight 20 hours a day and had zero burn in. Rtings ran them for an entire year for 20 hours a day and only the tv showing cnn had some slight burn in but all the others didn’t. No one watches the same thing for 20 hours a day. The point I’m trying to make is burn in doesn’t seem like it happens too often with these newer sets.

So much, that I brought the A8G as an early birthday gift to myself.
I understanding viewing will vary by owner, but all the research I've done led me to OLED's are really hard to burn in.
I've had mine for 1 week, and though dimmer than my LED, the blacks and contrast are simply better on the A8G. PQ looks outstanding

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
TVs that will support the new ATSC 3.0 standards will be out next year. Also stations will start to launch their 4K/ATSC 3.0 feeds next year. Some very interesting changes to the way we watch tv in the next year or so
