Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I'm thinking of taking the plunge into the world of OLED for my basement this spring. I have it narrowed down to the 65 inch LG C1 or C2.
Does anyone have any recommendations for an outdoor TV? It would be for my screened in patio and I would like to keep it under $1500. I'm thinking 42 inch max.
Thanks!

Samsung makes outdoors TVs, but I personally do not see the point if your patio is covered. I'd personally find one for few hundred bucks that is good at handling reflections. Or find one used for $100. Anecdotal, but everyone I know with patio TVs have had zero issues and we range from freezing to 105 and humid.
If you're in a very bright room, or you'd rather just rather a Mini LED model, the best 43-inch TV in the upper mid-range category is the Samsung QN43QN90FAFXZA.
Not listed out with a blurb is the QN90A. It's the best 55" and bigger LED you can buy, but they mention that the 43" version is a different panel. For outdoor my only criteria is pretty much brightness and reflection handling if using during the day.Comment

No one knows what the C2 will actually offer performance wise. I'd say buy a C1 if they drop in price again for the Super Bowl. You'll be paying max price for a C2 in the spring.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Everyone I know with outside TVs had them survive the 2020 freeze and multiple humid summers. Dropping $3500 on a Samsung Terrace seems like an unnecessary expense depending on the setup.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
We made our family room in the basement into a master bedroom over the summer. We moved everything in our living room upstairs, including the 50" DLP and there is not a lot of space in the living room. I have been toying around the idea of selling my DLP (w/ a spare brand new bulb) and getting an LCD or Plasma. The plan by getting the LCD or Plasma is to free up a whole bunch of space by the DLP and stand its on.
I was talking to a few people and they were telling me that newer Plasma's don't ghost anymore and burn-in isn't an issue being much better with still images. I see that I can get a 50" plasma (50" Samsung 1080p for $899 on sale) for much less than a 55" LCD (Samsung 1080p 120hz for $1499). We watch regular television shows, the news for about 45 minutes throughout the day (I worry about logos), my wife watches TV throughout the day, Blu-ray viewing, and I usually fire up the PS3 or 360 during the evening for about 1-2 hours depending on time. Because we have kids, I have to pause my gaming sometimes for 10-15 minutes if there is something I need attending to. Do they have screen savers on Plasma's?
The living room has a bay window with a lot of light during the day. The way the TV is facing, the window is to the left of it. The room is lightly dim in the evening since we have a lamp for lighting until I can install new lighting above the ceiling.
Do Plasma's still have to be broken in?
I can't pull the trigger till early December and I might even wait till around early next year..........but what do you guys think of the two? I have smaller LCD's at home already and love them, but wouldn't mind the plasma if its cheaper and can do the same.
Although, despite the price, LCD transmits more natural colors. More suitable for films where real events take place (not comics or special effects in abundance). Because on OLED, many colors are oversaturated, which is why watching a drama or a movie about the war, you notice a strange feeling, unnaturalness of what is happening. When the buildings are not distinguished by gray, but a little bluish. The film becomes different. Maybe not everyone notices it, I don't know.Comment

OLED TVs, of course, have much better contrast ratio. But it's also more expensive.

Congrats on responding to an 11 year old post.

Solid choice. I’d also look at the X90J/Q80A if it works with your budget.
